I might adjust a little once we get started and see how this works (my first year as head teacher).

    8:50-9:00 Children arrive
8:00-9:20 Table centers (manips) & One group a day Journals
(I have my class of 18 split into 3 groups, one group
a day will do their journals, rotating days. I wanted
to avoid having the entire class sit down and do them
so my assistant or I can spend more one on one time)
9:20-9:40 Circle time (weather, calendar, question of the day,
    morning message, etc)
    9:40-9:45 Wash hands
    9:45-10:00 Snack
10:00-10:15 Circle time (letters, numbers, pattens, big books,
    interactive charts, etc)
    10:15-10:55 Learning Centers
    10:55-11:00 Clean up
    11:00-11:20 Recess outside
11:20-11:30 Water break & wash hands
11:30-12:00 Story time and daily rec ap
    12:00 Dismissal

    journal groups

I love your idea of small group journaling during morning centers. I'm going to use it with my class of 18!

Vanna/TX suggested journaling first thing upon arrival and this is what I'm going to try as children start to trickle in as the year progresses and I end up having my circle time interrupted. Also, everyone has an opportunity to use writing/drawing everyday!

I have a question that is off subject if you don't mind. Do all of you have the traditional areas, dramatic play, block/truck, art, manipulative, library, writing...or do you not have "toys?"

Suppose I should post my schedule. We serve breakfast at 8:00-8:30.
9:00 Morning Meeting, calendar, story, journals.
    Choice of centers from 9:30-10:00.
During this time I do one on one with the children as needed.
Art is out for them to do if they choose.
    10:15-10:45 ...outside
    11:00-11:30...Lunch
    11:30-noon...clean up, bathroom, and naps/rest
At 2:30 everyone is up and we prepare for snack...put away bags, bathroom and wash up.
snack is available during this time
Children use centers until 4:00 or so and we go outside weather permitting until going home.
