Some books I really love (like all the Francis books and anything by Rosemary Wells) are not actually the kids' favorites. Here are a few books my kids have responded to more than others-- and I like them too. List yours. Found out today that some of my kids don't like the Dr. Seuss books! Burst my bubble! But the Kevin Henkes books (Chrysanthemum) and the Miss Bindergarten series are usually a hit.

Oh Thank you! I don't like Dr. Seuss either. Annoying is a good word! There are so many favorites. Let me think. -Frank Asch books are a hit with my kids too! I also have Happy Birthday Moon and Moongame, but also Mooncake and Skyfire. -Tikki Tikki Tembo is an oldie, but goodie -Anything by Robert Munsch. I must have 15 books and they love them all and search for them in the library every week. -Little Quack books -The Mitten by Jan Brett -Stellaluna (they like the book, but love the DVD) -Diane Degroat books such as "Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet", "Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink," "Good Night, Sleep Tight, Don't let the bed Bugs Bite." There are tons of them in the series. -Alphabet Mystery, Alphabet Adventure, and Alphabet to the Rescue are favorites by Audrey Wood. I usually read them at the beginning of the year to introduce the alphabet. -Is You Mama a Llama Thats what I can think of right now, but I know there are MORE.
The "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some ...." are both of our favorites King Bidgood's in the Bathtub was a big hit as well. They still love Chicka Chicka Boom Boom even though we used it at the beginning of the year.

We just completed a two week unit on Fairy Tales. I find that these stories really hold my students attention especially The Three Little Pigs and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Some other favorites include: Bark George Little Bunny Foo Foo Any kind of pop up or push & pull book

Pinkalicious ( a HUGE hit even with the boys!) Purplicious Skippyjon Jones books (so fun to Any Mo Willems book Miss Nelson books Parts More Parts Even More Parts Junie B Jones books (not my favorite to read, but they LOVE them!) The True Story of the Three Little Pigs (this has such a great voice to it and is fun to read!)
We currently have a collection of Robert Munsch books on the bookshelf and the kids absolutely LOVE them! My favorite is Pigs.
I get lost in the kids section of the library, as it is so interesting. You might ask the librarian for suggestions.
