What's your favorite bulletin board color to use? I want to use black border with small white dots, and I'm debating between a bright blue (colorful, inviting) and black (neutral, things pop out against it) backing. (I want to buy fabric - hopefully an investment for a few years!)

    Thoughts? Opinions?

in my opinion dont buy patterns unless the colors are similar like a light green and white or a extremely pale yellow gingham, dark patters will make you dizzy, i made that mistake once and just ended up putting a big piece of bb paper over it

I used black for my classroom bb this year. It made everything stand out. I'm thinking about doing it again this year too.

I use black felt. It's been up two years and still looks like new. It frames everything really nicely. For borders, I have sparkle gold (math); red (language arts); blue (social studies); and green (science).

I've used black and a soft soothing blue. Both of which I really liked.

I use brown craft paper - like packaging wrap. It's so neutral and looks very "rustic". I then can change the borders to add color and whatnot.

This past year I used white as my bulletin board background because I needed one color throughout the classroom and it matched my Hollywood theme borders well. In the past, I used black for all my boards and thought it allowed everything that I posted on them to really stand out. The only thing is that I read somewhere that you should stick with the same color background on all your boards and my popcorn border would look odd with a black background.

Our county came to our school and covered the bulletin boards with a texture light blue material of some sort. It looks nice because they all match, but a black backround is my favorite-things do POP!

I like how black looks, too... I just wonder, is it too dark and dreary for a primary classroom?

I painted over my bulletin board with purple house paint a few years ago and like it a lot. I like how black looks, but I often put the kids work on black paper, so I wanted a color behind it. The great thing about painting it is that it doesn't fade like paper. I can always repaint it if I get sick of the color.

I've used either black or navy blue for the past few years.

I used a bright orange this year. I never thought about black, but I am definitely going to do that next year.

I used black in my preschool class. I put a rainbow blend of colors border around it and used it for my character ed BB. Things really popped on it.

I also have one that is a nice blue shade... makes for a great sky or whatever.
