Do you know your city's population? Any other comments about that? Any fun facts?

In 2012, mine was 170,746. My city isn't huge (about 40 sq miles). It's strange to me how I never run into people I know as I'm going about my days and I know some of them still live here. You'd think I'd run into someone, but not nearly as often as you may think. The last time was about 2 yrs ago. By the way, as of July of this year, the unemployment rate is 7%.

My home village's population is 430.

I actually now work in a town with a population around 3,500. It about drives me crazy that it takes me over 10 minutes to drive through town to get to work. Too many people!

To give you some idea of the demographics-in my county, there are 7 villages, and the 1 town. The largest village is around 580, smallest around 65. But the population of the county is 11,000. So well over half of the population live in rural areas. We're considered a rather large, populated county. There are some in the west that the county seat is a town of about 50, and the whole county is around 400.

The population of my city is just over 80 000. When we moved here in 1992, it was just over 48 000, so there has been a lot of growth!

The county I live in has: 102,323
The City I live in has: 82,719

I still find it funny when someone comes up to me and we're talking about where I grew up and they don't understand how I don't think that this is a big area. This is what it is compared to:

    Long Island: 7.568 million
County I grew up in: 1.349 million
Town I grew up in: 18,871

My city's population in 2012 was about 246,000, but my city is very closely linked with a few other cities and generally seen by the outside as a joined area with a total population of 1.7 million.

The population of the City of Miami (proper) is only 413,890, however when most people refer to "Miami", they're really referring to the sprawling area of Miami-Dade County (even tv shows and movies that are supposedly set in Miami are almost never in the city itself, but on the beach and other areas of the county). The city itself is actually quite tiny geographically. The county population is 2,591,035.

About 500 in the town we are associated with. I drive 10 miles to the "big" town of 20,000. I do live close to Portland with a couple hundred thousand people. We avoid the big city as much as possible. That is why we live on a rural road.

My city has about 140,000. It's too big.

I grew up in a town of less than 3,000. That was too small (though I do really appreciate my small town childhood...I just don't think I could go back to it).

When we settle down, I would like to find a happy medium. :D

In San Antonio proper, it's something like 1.3 million. In the greater metro area, 2.2 million.

About half a million in the city itself and a little under a million in the metro area. Seems tiny compared to when I lived in Los Angeles, which I think has like, 12 million in the metro area. I am torn between bigger cities and small towns, there are things I love about both.

I live in a town of about 25,000, and teach in a town of 3,000. The city I grew up in has a population around 1,500. I'm definitely a small town girl, although I love the convenience of not having to drive 20 minutes to have anything besides a local grocery store...

My bf and I just moved to a new apartment a little over a month ago and the village it's located in has a little over 6500 residents, but the county where I live and have lived in the majority of my life has 450,000+ residents.

Town I live in now - 23,000. Don't know if that's with or without winter residents, but I'd guess with.

Town where I grew up: 10,000. I'm pretty sure that is with the winter residents. Total ghost town in the summer.

The town I grew up in was 20,000ish.

I attend college in a city with a population of roughly 300,000. (Don't quote me on that one though...)

Feels like 6million people live here, with the amount of traffic!

I live in a small city (feels more like a small town) with 62 000 people. It's about 15-20 minutes from a larger city with 500 000 people, but that larger city is so strange. It feels like a ghost town. I can drive around at 8 pm on a weeknight, I don't see anyone, anywhere.
Once my friend came up here from San Diego, so we went downtown, to a part that is the most visited area. There should have been people walking around, enjoying the weekend. It was in May, with weather not too hot, just right. There was almost no one around!! It was so weird. I don't know if people went away for the Memorial Day weekend, but even then, not everyone is going to leave town.
Since then I've seen the empty streets many many times.
It is a high poverty, high crime city, but even that doesn't explain it.

I live in a town about 10,000 which is nice. I do not like big city living. I have lived in a smaller community about 5 miles from where I live and work and I hated it. Not because of the size, but I hated having to drive 5 miles (which amounts to about 10 minutes at the most) to Walmart and Winn Dixie. I know crazy, but I like being able to run to the store.

According to Wikipedia (so I can´t guarantee its accuracy, though it seems about right):

    *The population is about 1,564,514.

*Here are some fun facts I didn´t know: It was named the ¨American Capital of Culture in 2005¨, Ciudad Educadora (Educator City) in 2006 and the first Smart City in Mexico due to its use of technology in development.

If wikipedia is citing the 2010 census, then you're good. The wiki editors are rather... anal when pages about places are edited.
