Just wondering when everyone starts and ends the next school year. For me: Start: 9/2 (teachers) 9/3 (students) End: 6/24 (students) 6/25 (teachers) We have week-long breaks in December and April. How about you?
First day for students is September 2nd, there are no mandatory days for staff before this, although we are all in at least a few days the week before. Last day of school for students is June 25th (half-day); last day for staff is June 26th. We have two weeks off over Christmas and a week off in March.
I'm on a 202 day contract (the one part I miss about being a teacher) so I start Aug 4 and end June 16.

Do you not get a week off for Thanksgiving? We get a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas, and then a week in March. Love those spread out breaks!
Convocation starts 8/18. Students start 8/22. Students end 6/5 and teachers are done 6/12. Spring Break doesn't start until 4/3, which feels like FOREVER.

My district doesn't give either of those off. I've actually never had President's Day off since becoming a teacher. My current district does give November 15 off. And the 16th most of the time, too.

Start: Staff - August 5th Students - August 11th End: June 12 We have a week fall break in October, a week for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Christmas, and 2 weeks for spring break. Plus the national holidays with 3 day weekends. I actually prefer a shorter summer with more breaks throughout the year, so I'm happy about this calendar.
What? That's a federal holiday. Do you not teach in a public school? What about Labor Day and Memorial Day? Your Union approved a calendar with no MLK Day off?
Yes, it's public. I've worked in three public schools in this state and we have never had those days off. As far as I know none of the schools around here do.
The only holidays that I do not have students are: Labor Day (state law prohibits beginning before the Tuesday following Labor Day), Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Memorial Day. Students go to school on Veteran's Day, MLK Day, President's Day, Good Friday and any other holiday. Yet November 15th and 16th are days off I am also public and unionized.
Teacher in-service days: August 28th and 29th Students start: Half day- Sept 2nd, first full day of school- Sept 3rd We have 2 weeks off for Christmas, 2 weeks off for Spring Break, and a 3-4 days break for Easter (we're a Catholic school). Last day will probably be June 3rd.
