    Just a little fun thread as we're nearing the end of the school year! :)

    Either an amusement park or something more mellow, such as staying around town, going to some stores, having lunch, maybe an afternoon movie. I wish I liked the beach, but I can only bear to be there 30-60 min tops. :)

    Honestly, I would sleep late, then pick up lunch from Panera or Einstein's, and then I'd take another nap.

    I'm in a very small town, so anything would require some travel.
    * closest amusement park 2 hours away
    * decent shopping 25 miles
    * best shopping 50 miles
    * anything besides fast food or buffet 25 miles
    * theater 25 miles
    * best hiking 30 miles

    I'd probably sleep late, then see if BF or guy BFF wanted to go out for the day. They're both retired, so their schedules are pretty flexible.

    If it was a free weekday, as opposed to a free weekend day, I would probably find an activity to do that would normally be busy during the weekend...for example, hiking some of the popular hikes around the area.

    Sleep in at least until 8am. Hang out at a coffee shop for a while, and do some internet reading or just reading. Eat lunch with the BF, come home and nap. Then once I'm awake eat out at some Chicago style pizza with friends. End the evening with some cookies or ice cream and a movie on Netflix.

    Try to sleep in, which means 7:30-8 nowadays, small breakfast, then the typical ridiculous amount of exercise I put myself through, then probably a diner for a real breakfast even though it will be lunch time.

    Hmm, then it depends on the weather. If its a rainy or cold day: movies. If its nice out, go for a walk, throw around a football or shoot hoops, maybe sit outside and read. If I am feeling adventurous I would get some last minute Yankee tickets if there is an afternoon game, but realistically just hang out.

    Sounds good guys! Yes, I purposely said free weekday as opposed to a weekend day.

    How many yrs have you lived in your area? Have you ever wanted to move to where everything is centrally located?

    I agree!

    I would wake up super early, have some coffee, and work on my graduate thesis all day.

    It depends. One must first define "free weekday."

    Does my wife know that I have a free weekday? And if not, what will she do when she finds out that I had a free weekday and didn't tell her?

    If the answer to the first question is yes, or the answer to the second question is anything other than "nothing at all" then I would be spending the free weekday accomplishing the tasks laid out for me on the evening before the free weekday began.

    Either way, I'd probably spend a free weekday doing laundry or catching up on some cleaning so that when the weekend came, we could spend more time together.

    I usually don't sleep late even when I'm off. I might have some coffee then catch up on email or other things online. I could go to my favorite breakfast cafe in town and sit and read a bit while I have breakfast (they make a really good quiche!). If the weather is nice I would take a walk (maybe to and from the breakfast place since it's close by) or go shopping. I'd probably do some chores then watch something on Netflix.

    Ha! I would have said BOTH ways. What would you do IF she knew AND if she didn't know. Be careful how you answer now! :lol:

    I was born here, but moved away for college. Got a teaching job here after college, so I moved back. Cost of living is low here. I live comfortably on my income. I own a house with a big yard.

    it's not fir everyone, but I like it. Big cities are okay for some things, but I like country living. People have told me they think I'd like a big city. I'm not convinced.

    I'd change this to my husband.

    I agree with Sarge, I'd be tempted to do those things that needed to be done so we could spend the weekend together.

    Or, I might just take the day for my self & binge watch Criminal Minds and knit.

    In all actuality, I'd do laundry, binge watch Criminal Minds & knit in between loads of laundry.

    Actually, if she didn't know I was off, I would definitely need to make myself scarce - i.e. get out of the house and stay out of the house. So I'd probably go to my classroom for a while, then take a very long lunch, maybe visit a few retail outlets that she never sets foot in (REI, bike shops, car places).

    If I stayed home, and didn't tell her in advance, I'd need to make sure that I had a decent list of accomplishments so when she got home from work she would not be able to claim I wasted the day. For some reason, when she gets home, she can always tell if I've been home all day or if I've been gone.

    The third option is to visit her at work. She's usually happy to see me except when she isn't.

    Sleep late

    Go for a run

    Work in garden

    A bit of shopping

    And later in the afternoon...

    Read newspaper or a novel on my porch with a glass of chilled Chardonnay

    I might be making a Drs appt. In May or June so I'll take the whole day off. I make sure my appts are early so I have the rest of the day FREE! I should start planning what to do now :p

    I have next Tues completely free. I've been thinking about what to do all week. Just now, I got the idea of making lunch reservations at this Brazilian Churrasco that I love, but I'll see about that.

    Wake up at my usual time 5:00 am, but instead of getting ready for work, I'd go out for a walk/jog by the sea !!
    Then sit for a while & enjoy the morning sun, get back for a quick shower & light breakfast. Then meet a friend, have huge amounts of ice-cream while sitting by the sea.

    It's just I am so used to the sea , but when I work, I am practically shut out from it, & just pass by it while on the bus. I miss it's breeze and smell and the calming effect it has on me.

    I would sleep in. If my daughter still had school I would go have lunch with her, if not I would have a long lunch somewhere by myself, maybe take in a movie. OR I might just stay at home binge watching TV, take a long nap, and read.

    Starting June 3rd, I could start having a free day once a week or at least a lighter day than usual! I know for sure I'll use it to go to Disneyland one of those days. The cousin of a FB pal of mine knows this lady who works there who could get me the Disneyland/CA Adventure park hopper ticket for $75/person. (It's normally $100/person for ONE park for the day.)

    Yes, I agree! :thumb:

    I have most of today free! This morning, I went to the gym, ran a couple errands, & got a smoothie on the way home in which I added lots of fiber & chia seeds to it.

    It's been sprinkling all morning. I may spend the rest of the day cozy at home & do some laundry, etc. I'm watching a DVD movie now & unpacking this cool mist humidifer that I ordered.

    I called in sick today. I was feeling worn out and grouchy. BF and I slept in (he is never off on Fridays, but took a personal day today, too). We are going out of town later for shopping and dinner and we're also going to watch Pitch Perfect 2.
