I saw this on Facebook and just shook my head.
I hate when people set off fireworks. So many communities do a fantastic show, there is no need to do it in your backyard.
Yes, saw that earlier today. Can we say stupidity? Also, this was alcohol-related...still, that's that guy's stupidity...don't drink then.
Sad and stupid. His brother rushed over to resuscitate him and evidently there was really nothing there to resuscitate.
All they need to do is amend the warnings to read:
Place launcher on a hard, smooth, level surface (other than your head).
Oh, and Blazer, we Americans don't need to be celebrating 4th of July to pull stunts like this. Trust me on that.
Yeah, I guess they need to add the warning on the label "do not put on your head".

Im constantly amazed at how powerful these things are. I'm surprised they're legal anywhere. Indeed they were dangerous when I grew up in the 80's, but now there is little comparison...these things are like mini-bombs or something, way too advanced IMO to be sold to regular people.
You can't buy or set off fireworks in the state of Ohio, but people just drive elsewhere and bring them back. The town over from where I live had a fire from private individuals setting off fireworks; I am hoping the people are charged with something.
Fireworks are beautiful to watch, but leave it to the professionals.
Well as one of your former oppressors I wish you a prosperous 240th year of independence. It's not to late to come back!
Blazer, on my last trip to the UK, I actually asked a few people (mostly bartenders) if they would mind having us back.
They all said no. Probably the result of seeing behavior like that which you have mentioned.
His brother stated that the victim had the firework on his head and was waving the light around "threatening" to light it as a joke, freaking people out. His brother does not believe he actually intended for the wick to light; he just waved it too close. Pretty sad and stupid, but I don't think he actually thought he could launch from his head.
If you were in London I doubt the barmen were British. Probably Eastern Europeans who don't want another group to share our money with!
To quote Mike Myers (In mystery Alaska) "It's not rocket surgery" Well actually it was!
The man's mom is wanting restrictions on fireworks according to an article I just read.

My Terri's father is a private individual who is a professional he has a party with fireworks the first weekend in August every year (with a permit) in Toledo and he does a hell of a job. He has also been called as an expert witness in a fireworks court action.
As for this individual he will be in the next issue of Darwin Awards
There's some fire crackers being set off tonight. I know we need to celebrate our country, but it's not a month long celebration! My doggie is not a fan.
