That is not what my P said, but it's exactly what I heard. My school has been losing enrollment for a few years now, and the result has been position attrition. So after 11 years of dedicated teaching I was told that my contract would not be renewed. Officially, I am resigning for financial reasons (basically, I cannot afford to live on what they can pay) and will be looking in the public school systems for work. But OUCH! It hurt to hear it all the same.:(

If it's just the position that's being eliminated, can we assume you'll get great letters of recommendation?

I have gotten a fantastic letter of recommendation from a parent of a child with Asbergers, and my P said she would write a good letter for me as well. The job market is extremely tight. Thank you so much for the prayers and wishes.

Letters from parents (or from students!) are always so effective, I think. Their appreciation really shines through. I wish you the very best of luck.

I'm so glad that the principal is supportive and willing to write you a nice letter of recommendation. This definitely shows that you are not the weakest link.

I'm sorry to hear that too. Just remember sometimes things happen for a reason. I wasn't at a school as long as you have been, but I got cut with a change in enrollment and it was the best thing that ever happened to me because I ended up somewhere 10 times better.

I'm so sorry! I was devastated last year when I was laid off but I'm actually much happier in my current district. I hope you find a new and better position quickly.

I am working like crazy to get applications filled out. Everything is online these days! I haven't done this in a long time, and it is taking forever to track everything down, download, upload, scan, and on and on. I am remaining hopeful though, and I am lucky to have a wonderfully supportive Sweets. We have discussed all sorts of possible ways to handle whatever may (or may not) come. I have been telling myself that God closed this door for a reason, but it is still hard. Thank you for all your prayers and hugs. I will keep you updated.
