The interview yesterday was fantastic! I was well prepared for every question, had good examples/anecdotes to tell about as part of my answers, and was able to show them things from my portfolio to back up some of my statements. I passed my brochure around for a photo that was in it, and they asked to keep the whole brochure. The position is 4th grade math and science. Ideally they would like a bilingual certified teacher but after hiring several for other positions are now having difficulty finding another, so they've been given permission to interview general ed candidates. I think I have a great shot at the position if no one bilingual certified turns up. I did minor in Spanish and let them know that once I've brushed up on my vocabulary I would be able to take that exam and add on that certification. They said they want to make their decision as soon as possible and will contact candidates to let them know either way, so at least I won't have to wait long to know. Now a question--when sending a thank-you email, do I send one email to all three people at once? Do I send individual emails but copy/paste the same text? Or do I send a different message to each person? I didn't really have separate conversations with anyone so it would be difficult to make each email unique.
I try to send a separate email to each person. I doubt they would be so petty as to compare, but still, it is polite and you never know. It certainly sounds as though you have a good shot at this job!
If it's more than 2-3 people, I tend to just opt for sending one thank you to whoever was leading the interview thanking the whole panel. I think it's funny that anyone actually thinks principals would take time to compare, but eh.... Even if they did compare, so what?
I think that you could either send them each a quick thank you or write one thank you and cc all three candidates.
I send the same email to everyone, but separately. I just change the name/greeting. I really don't think it would matter if all the emails said the same thing. If I were a principal I wouldn't expect any candidate to sit down and write a different thank you note to everyone on the panel. You're going above just by sending the thank you note.
Thanks, everyone! Thank-you emails have been sent and I have heard from one of my references that they've called to check me out...trying not to get too hopeful too soon, but it's sounding good so far! Hopefully I'll hear something early in the week
I advised someone to send a different one to each person but then noticed each letter was lacking but when combined it was a great letter. So just keep quality in mind. If you can't write 3 great ones, I'd rather 1 great 1 than 3 mediocre ones.
