Could we get another thread on Vista Print going here? I noticed that the last one was finally closed (Marathon Folder).

Still hoping to get their free brochures!

I think I have placed 5 orders with the $5 shipping, 9 total this summer. Yes, me=addicted. A tip to get it, you have to order one full price thing: I usually get the red or blue ink on a stamp.

I am probably going to place one more tonight and then try to stop. We will see (haha)

Uh oh! I think I'm hooked! I just placed my first order. Here's what I got:

    Welcome Banner

Car Magnet with a motivational quote

Post cards with a list of each part of the Daily Five. (I'm going to laminate these and students keep them in their book boxes and mark the order they will be completing them (1, 2, 3, etc.) with a whiteboard marker or Vis A Vis.

Pocket Stamp to stamp the inside of each of my library books.

Can't wait to get my order!!

Order up to 10 free items. Make one of them a stamp with red ink. When you go to check out, your shipping should be 5.00 (and then you will pay 5 plus the cost of the ink). Most of my orders have been 6.99. Hope this helps you.

Also, it is pretty much worth your time and money to order 10 items. You might as well while shipping is cheap. The sale ends tomorrow.

Once I made my brochure and saved it I started receiving boatloads of sales emails. That is how I got the free brochure and discounted uploads sale. I receive several emails a week from them. If you're trying to get their ads I would just make something simple and save it. :D Just a thought. :)

I remember when they had the half off shipping link last year (which is now gone). So does this one work similarly?

:( Boo. It's not giving me $5 shipping. 10 items, one is a stamp with red ink. My total before shipping is $1.99.

    :) You're so smart!

Luckily, I just backed out, then entered the site again with your link. $5! I got a banner, tote, mouse pad, sticky notes, note pad, red stamp, return address labels, notecards, postcards, and a window decal for $6.99! Now all I need is a classroom ;)

    Don't forget to order:

Business cards for the parents/caregivers of your parents
small magnets with the school/classroom rules on them to take home & post on the fridge
a pen with your name on it
outdoor (think real estate) signs if you have an outside door to let students/parents see where your classroom is
extra-large postcards with the heading "A note from (insert your name here)" on the front so you can send notes to your coworkers or the office more easily
posters for your classroom (What do you do when you enter / before you leave; What do I do when I'm through?, etc.)

I ordered medium magnets (10 per order) that say "This locker is assigned to ______. Please remember to keep it clean and organized!"

I also ordered postcards (for my 1st graders) that I will fill in and laminate - they state the child's name, bus number or daycare name, and my name and classroom number.

I finally made brochures! Now I just have to have my P approve them to send out.

I'm sure I'll think of more....

Oh, I might be addicted. Can I make more than one order of free stuff? I'd love to go ahead and make up some flyers and things for drama club to give away and back-to-school night and other such events...

I am new to this site and to teaching in general. Could someone explain to me what vistaprint is? I went to the website and it looks like half the items are free! How can this be? What is the catch?

The catch is that the quantities are small. Ie I got 10 free stickers and 15 free sheets of letter head. They are hoping that once I've take the few minutes to create an order that I will decided to order 20 stickers instead so they can charge me.
Pretty small catch for the amount of stuff you can get free if you want, especially if you make multiple orders.

I love the idea of the editing cards as well...I'm going to use that idea as a jumping off point and create some for my class.

Placed another order! How do you get the pictures of your items into an online photo album? Save the pictures to your computer, then upload them? I'd like to start doing that, even though I 'borrow' most of your ideas!

What a neat idea! How will you use them? The K teachers at my school make little necklaces for the kids the first few week, in case anyone wanders off :)

Just go to your portfolio in VistaPrint and save each picture to your computer. I don't know if you have to, but I always click each picture "for a larger preview" before I right click to save them.

I upload my pictures to photobucket, but I know there are other sites you can use.

I will probably punch holes in them and string yarn so I can hang them on their necks - I may also attach one to the backpack.
