I'm going to brag on myself! :D

I wS diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in October. I do not want to take medication. I promised my doctor I'd whip myself into shape.

Last Friday I had my checkup. I've lost 42 pounds, lowered my blood pressure, and . . . I am no longer classified as diabetic. My A1C was well into normal range. :thumb:

The doctor said I also look much better and act a lot happier.

Congrats Ima! I may be picking your brain as my doctor says my blood sugars are way too high as with my blood pressure. :( I'm on a low-glycemic diet right now -- I mean, I should be on a low-glycemic diet, lol.

    Congrats.

My dad was diagnosed with Type 2 last April. His blood sugar has been in a good range, no spiking or anything, but his A1C keeps sticking at 6.1-6.2. He's not overweight, no high blood pressure, just family history of diabetes. A lot of it.

bros, that is a good A1c for a diabetic. Mine has been running at 7, and my last test was 10. Oh my. I now have a coach and I feel like I am starting over with learning all about diabetes.

Good job! I have what could be called Type 1.5 (CFRD) and have it controlled by a pill now. I dread the day I have to count carbs. It seems so confusing! Losing that much weight sounds great:)

That's really inspiring! Can I ask what you did to get into shape? Was it a matter of eating healthier food or more exercise?

That is awesome!! I know how hard it can be. Everyone in my husband's family has type 2 diabetes and they were told they could control it with a better eating plan or medication. They chose medication. They'd rather eat crap and take pills the rest of their lives than to just eat healthy and exercise.

I've been eating better and exercising. I adjusted food first because I was so out or shape the exercise wasn't possible at first.

This time last year I was new capris and shirts in size 20 and 22. Yesterday I bought size 12/14 exercise pants. :thumb:

I wish I could have enough self-discipline to maintain a healthy diet for longer than a couple of days! I'll start small and try drinking only water this week.
