Ok, someone sent me an email today about this. I know I am from Tennessee, but never thought of myself as a "hick." However, this has me a bit worried!
I scored a 99 (Dixie). I really need to get out more!
Thought you guys (ya'll) might like it. :D

I scored 66 - a definite dixie. No surprise there. (I live in Florida now but was born and bred in MD. MD is considered a southern state - South of the Mason Dixon line)

58% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category.

Oddly enough, I was born in Florida and grew up (until my sophomore year of high school) in Tennessee...

I guess it was easier to conform to the Midwest terminology than to stand out. ;)

43% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category.

That describes where I live... just outside of the southern states. I hear a lot of the southern terminology here and have a slight southern accent, but it's nothing like the real south. :)

Very surprised to have scored 49% Yankee (thought I'd be more Yankee.) I'm born and raised in South Jersey, where we drive east to go "down the shore" and drink "wudder." I have actually asked my students, "Jeet yet?" when they come into school in the morning--and they will answer me!

58% Dixie... this is a surprise to me. I grew up on the plains in CO and went from there to CA, from CA to NH and back again. Who knew I had any Dixie in me???

I scored 52% Dixie...I'm from the Midwest so I guess it's a combo of alot of dialects...and my grandma is from the south so maybe I have some southern roots. That was a fun quiz! :)

46% Yankee. Hmmm...... Definitly from Wisconsin! Anyone else say "bubbler"? My husband thinks I'm wierd for not calling it a "drinking fountain". He's from WI, but from the other side of the state.

Well, I got a dixie score of 74% pretty sad. I didn't realize my language was so southern. But I guess that is to be expected since I live in the Houston, Texas area and have my whole life.

55% Dixie. Lived in NE my whole life, but my family's from the south and midwest, so I tend to affect a southern form of Northern-speak.

I definitely expected to be more Yankee...lived in Mass my whole life. I say things like "Paak the caa" and Frongspond...I also say "bubbler" well, it's more like "bubbla" haha, but I never thought to call it anything else until I was older and was told by people that it's not called that everywhere!

LOL!!! It means what part of the US you favor. Yankee means the northern parts and Dixie means the south.
