I'm curious as to how many teachers on this board use the 6 Analytical Writing Traits to assess student writing and to teach writing skills. Despite strong support from researchers and educators, it seems to have faded away since it's heyday in the early 2000s. Personally, I love it as a tool to assess learning and plan instruction and remediation.
We got the Trait Crates when they released versions for middle school. However it didn’t really fit with some of the other requirements we had, so it wasn’t really helpful.
It's a good tool, but it's true that it's not that widely used. I've never used it yet because I don't have a lot of teaching experience, but I'd like to try
