I teach 5th grade and it just came to my attention that my students do not know how to write a 5 paragraph essay. I taught it last year briefly but want to do a much better job this year. I did not know I would be teaching writing (we are departmentalized) so I have no idea what to do. I want to teach a 5 paragraph essay format then slowly go into writing a research report. What are some websites, books, anything that helps? Do I do mini lessons on into sentences? I really have no idea what to do
