I'm looking for resources for good writing and reading mini lessons for beginning K readers through 2nd grade readers and writers. I have such a broad range in my room.

I bought Writing Curriculum: Week-by-Week Lessons, Grade 1 and Just-Right Comprehension Mini-Lessons which seem to be pretty good so far. (Both by Scholastic)

I use the Lucy Calkins series for writing. It has mini lessons to go with a writing workshop format.

They have a new writing a-z.com website with good lessons but they only have a few lessons ready for use. (Since it is a new site)

    http://ohiorc.org/for/ela/browse.aspx?topic=177&grade=1&resourcetype=-100
This is an Ohio website that finds best practice lessons off the internet. A lot of the writing lessons come from www.readwritethink.org

For small group I use readinga-z mini lessons and books.
readwritethink.org might have reading lessons as well... I'm not sure?

I also use Lucy Calkin's Writing Workshop....7 units, about a month long each...I beleive the kit cost $150, but maybe you can get your principal to buy it for you.

I also use Lucy Calkins for Writing. I use Growing Readers by Kathy Collins for reading mini-lessons. Her book is geared for 1st grade and she worked a lot with Lucy Calkins so it follows the same format. I highly recommend her book.
