OK, so during a volleyball game the other night, I saw 2 different coaches wearing these shoes (or something similar)

    http://www.rei.com/product/798168

Would you wear these? Am I totally off base in thinking these are some of the ugliest things I have ever seen???

Wouldn't you feel like you toes are just...out there!...for everyone???

Not me! That would feel so strange for me to wear. It's like those socks that have all the toes, which I could never wear either. I should get a pair of those socks one day just to see how they feel.

I'll have to show them to my 16 year-old--then I'll know for sure if they are ugly or something that we all need to have! :p (I think they're ugly).

I totally saw a teacher at my school wearing those last week!

I think they look bizarre, but I'd definitely wear them before I wore any of those balance, butt-shaping shoes (you know, the ones with the concave soles). Those toning shoes have got to be terrible for your knees and ankles.

They are supposed to be for runners, I think. Something about barefoot running.

I do think they're really ugly, but I'm more concerned about how they'd feel. :)

Yeah, I think they are for barefoot running, which supposedly is much better for the feet and knees. I heard that people didn't have as many knee problems until the 70s when running shoes hit the scene.

A teacher here wears them. I think he's about 25 years old. Californians LOVE ugly shoes!! Crocs, earth shoes, birkenstocks, now these.

I don't think you do. I think the whole idea is barefoot...and stinky apparently...

    kcjo, those are UGLY!!!!!!

I talked to a lady last week at the gym who was wearing a pair...... I don't think we ever made eye contact........ I stared at her "feet" the entire conversation ... If she had moved any closer to me I would have been outta there.

    :lol::lol:

I would say NOT FOR ME!!! I can't even stand those socks that seperate the toes... at least I can't see that with shoes on!!!

I'm one who doesn't like to wear flip flops much!!! LOL!!!

My toes are WAY too short for those! I have crazy long feet, but short little sausage toes. I can't stand flip flops either, Dizenee!

    OMG! Those are awful!

And I'm a Birkenstock fan, so I'm not opposed to the ugly shoe.

That's just wrong. I'm pretty sure my toes wouldn't spread apart enough to wear them anyway. I can't wear toe socks either.

I thought that the idea behind being barefoot was to be BAREfoot. So why wear an incredibly ugly shoe??

Yet another fashion trend that I'll pass on.

I guess I am the odd person out who would wear those shoes. I'm thinking they would be easier to walk on the sand at the beach than going barefoot.

I've seen them at marathons, on runners. I would not, could not, should not wear them under any other circumstance (and I don't run marathons other than my up at 7, teach til 3, stand traffic duty, do 2-3 hours of tutoring, make dinner, do a load of laundry, correct papers, spend some family time all in a day kind of regular marathon...but even then, I'm wearing fabulous shoes...something like http://search.aol.com/aol/search?query=ellen+tracy+shoes&s_it=client_searchbox I have them in red patent!!)

    U-G-L-Y! Now I know their alibi!:D
I would poop my pants if I am running alone in a park and someone ran up behind me with those ugly things!
On top of that...I'd take off and scream, "HELP! BIG:eek: FOOT!!"

Nope, absolutely not! I'm more into www.toms.com, where every pair you purchase also purchases a pair of shoes for a child in need.

Are the Tom's comfortable? Do they have an arch support and a sole thick enough to provide cushioning to last all day on your feet?

Those are actually the shoes Crossfit gyms encourage. All of our movements are 'natural', like running, jumping and climbing. We're encouraged to go barefoot in the gym or use those when running outside, although I have a pair of Nike Free shoes. They feel like you are barefoot but they look a lot nicer.

No... no... and NO!! I would NEVER wear those shoes. They are some-kind-of-funky that I would never wear even if PAID to wear them. Well.. I guess I could be bought for a very reasonable 5-figured pricetag for an hour a day for a month. After that... no way! :)

My cousin and my neighbor both have a pair and love them! And neither are runners...they just like the feeling of being barefoot so they like to wear those outside when they can't actually be barefoot.

They're not for me. I don't even like toe socks so I wouldn't like the feel of those shoes alone, nevermind that I think they're not very attractive.

I'll let you know when they arrive this week!

Actually, a few of my friends have them and they all RAVE about them. They have very thick cushioning and I think would be perfect for those of us on our feet all day.

I have seen kids at my school wearing them and I sorta think they're neat. I've always wanted to try on a pair.
