I am in a bit of a dilema. There is a position open at one of my favorite schools. Here is the problem it is a .5 FTE 2nd grade and a .5FTE 1st grade Reading Intervention. It says in the qualifications that a person must have the Reading Specialist license,. At this moment I am beginning the process to get my reading endorsement added to my current license. Do you think I should apply and state that I am working towards the endorsement? Thank You, Mldouglas
I agree, it wouldn't hurt. Maybe you could state the classes that you have taken towards the reading endorsement.
It can't hurt to try. Be sure to put in your cover letter something about it being a preferred district for you and that you are working on your endorsement. GOOD LUCK!
FTE = Full Time Equivalent So 1.0 means Full-time (hours may vary from district to district, which is why 1.0 is a universal full time "code") .5 would mean half time .75 would mean 3/4 time, etc... Some of our teachers are on goofy scales where they technically hold two positions of .65 and .25... this means that they are .9 on the pay scale, which totally stinks for them. They also don't get ANY plan time because their positions don't qualify.
For us, our planning (prep) time is pro-rated for part-time teacher (as are supervision duties). Full-time teachers have 60 minutes duty and 190 minutes/week prep time--half-time teachers would have 30 minutes duty and 95 minutes prep.
