I hate wearing heels. I think they're incredibly uncomfortable and I'm not sure how other teachers manage to be in them all day! I have a nice looking relatively low pair of black heels that I've basically worn only to job interviews or fairs in the past. They're made well and comfortable for awhile, but I found I didn't like teaching in them all day. My friends who went last year all said that we need to get there at least two hours before the doors open to get in line, and then you run around for 3 hours trying to get interviews before interviewing in the afternoon. I'm tempted to wear my flats instead but I think they look like they don't match up with a suit. These are the ones I would wear: http://www.payless.com/store/produc...0048&catId=cat10088&lotId=098912&cid=cse_pg_1 Do you think I could pull them off or should I just suck it up and wear the heels?
I think you can pull off flats if they are the really nice looking ones and that they work with the outfit. I tend to wear heals and just deal with it for that day (and then throw them off as soon as I get home or am done interviewing). However, if you feel more comfortable in flats, then ones like the one you linked to should be fine.
I hate heels. I have really weird feet and I have enough trouble finding flats that fit... Last year, I wore flats with a skirt suit to a job fair and an interview and it was just fine. Those shoes look fine to me!
I don't wear heels, if I need a pair I usually have to buy them to match the outfit. However, I'm short, so heels are a must for me on something like a job interview where I want to feel...more powerful? lol I'd say flats are fine as long as they look okay with the suit. Do a have a pic of that?
I almost always wear flats, including with suits. I usually go for something more simple and classic though, without the knot detailing. I think you'll be fine though, as long as your pants are the right length. If they're hemmed to be worn with heels, they may be too long. If that happens, you could go for a simple, professional wedge. They're miles comfier than regular heels. Something like this: http://www.payless.com/store/produc...&lotId=099634&category=&catdisplayName=Womens Or even this (not a huge fan of this style, but they look super comfy): http://www.payless.com/store/produc...&lotId=099379&category=&catdisplayName=Womens
I'm wearing something similar to my job fair next week. I'm 5' 10" and I tend to loom over people as it is. Wearing heels, even short ones, make me feel like a giant. I also believe in not wearing anything I wouldn't want to teach in. Heels for 6-8 hours would be murder on my poor knees and ankles. Dress for the job you want, not the job you have*. *I have thought about dressing as a pirate just for laughs. I would never do it in reality, but it would certainly make me memorable.
