I'll admit I am pretty bad when it comes to word work. I do not do enough of it.

How do you do word study/word work in your classrooms?
    What does it look like?
    What are the activities?

I teach grade 2 and use the Daily 5.

But before I intro word work in Daily 5, I teach it whole group using things like shaving cream, play dough, white boards, sidewalk chalk, blocks, wax sticks, magnet letters, etc. Usually 3 new ways a week. Then when we create the I-chart in Daily 5, we already have ways to work on words.

They may practice spelling words, word wall words, word ladders, personal dictionary words, etc.

What grade are you teaching? Word work can look different in with different ages...
