hi everyone! This is my first year of teaching. I'm teaching 1st grade. The literacy department in my district is having everyone re-do their word walls. They don't want us to have them alphabetically but rather by content. Does anyone have any ideas of what this might look like in a 1st grade classroom? Any one have any ideas of categories for word walls in a 1st grade classroom? Thank you!

No. I just do is alphabetically. Another option is by subject walls, if you do such a thing. I have math words on my math wall, social studies words on that wall, etc.

I've used different colors for different subject vocabulary before. I've done it with math, science and social studies words on top of our regular vocab words.
