    Hi all,
My wife AND I were hired in Rawlins Wyoming. Does anyone have any good or bad info about the city or state? We tried to do as much research as we can...but havent found out much info. I know there are websites out there...but I havent found anything too useful yet.

    Thanks!

Can't give you any information, but wanted to say, "Congratulations!" It sounds like the start of a wonderful new adventure for the both of you.

Why not go online and contact some realtors in the area? Tell them your situation and ask them about the area. Of course, they'll tell you only the good things, but, hey you both have jobs-- aren't you looking for the good things?

    Congrats!!

I gave up my job in Arlington,VA. Now I'm looking in nh. I didn't like the dc area. I'm scared because there doesn't seem to be teaching jobs here. I going to have to colbra for health insurance. Is it possible to survive on subbing etc???? What have been others experiences? Any nh teachers???

You accepted jobs and you don't know anything about the place? Wow, you are brave!

It has been many, many years since I went through there, but I don't think it has changed much. It should be great if you enjoy outdoor activities like camping, hiking, hunting, etc. Should be the normal western activities like rodeos in the area, too. It will probably be very dreary if you crave the activities of the big city. The place only has a few thousand residents. It is a railroad town and I think there is a prison there and a refinery nearby. At least it is on I80 so you can get to Cheyenne, Denver or Salt Lake City fairly easily if you need a fix of big (relative) city life.

It is perfectly possible to survive on subbing, provided the pay is OK. I subbed for a nearby town and the pay was 100 a day for subs. However, when I moved to the town Im currently in...I was told I was going to sub every day. They kept changing their story and I never subbed once...so...yeah that sucked.

Cobra is going to suck though...very expensive.

Yeah I know....live on the wild side! woooohooo!

I think it depends on what part of NH you are in. The sub pay is probably about 65 dollars a day give or take 10 dollars.
