So at the beginning of each year, each classroom teacher creates a "wish list." The list is sent to the parents of the class. All of the parents of the school are extremly giving and most of the time they will get just about everything on the list. Now this is my first year teaching and my first year coming up with a wish list, so I could use some help! Any suggestions and ideas? Also, is there any type of reading/language arts software of book programs that would be good to ask for?? Thanks everyone!
Could you ask to see a copy of other teachers' lists or lists from past years? Without knowing if these are supplies (i.e. glue sticks) or "fun stuff" (books, games, etc), my advice would be... Be vague. Since you are new to teaching and unsure of what you could best use maybe stick to some basics. You could set up a wishlist on amazon and add to it as the year goes on. I have and love my class set of whiteboards. Best wishes for a wonderful first year!
I would ask for dry erase markers if you have a class set of white boards! They get super expensive fast... Good luck with your first year!
Thank you!! I already got the kids whiteboards.....erase makers would be good for the list though! I never thought of that!
I like the huge lined dry-erase paper. It is a huge replica of the lined paper the students use... great for a 1st grade room.. annndd I just looked and saw you teach 4th, so nevermind. I always ask for labels, magnetic paper, sharpies, cool pens, stickers, specific titles of books I want, visa gift cards, lakeshore gift cards, etc. (I love the gift cards.)
