We're having a (hopefully) low-key winter "show" at the end of the month. This is my first year teaching, so I'm slightly apprehensive though excited and hopeful. We're going to make some winter-themed foods (I have a recipe for snowman cupcakes, and some other similar winter recipes), and sing a handful of winter songs. Does anyone have any suggestions of songs? My kids especially enjoy songs with hand motions. Any general advice about putting on a small show like this would be appreciated too! Thanks in advance! Here are 3 winter songs/poems my 3's have used in past years: Tune: Twinkle Twinkle Snowflakes, snowflakes falling down on the trees and on the ground I will build a man of snow tall black hat and eyes of coal if the sun comes out today I will watch him melt away Poem: I made myself a snowball just as perfect as can be. I thought I'd keep it as a pet and let it sleep with me! I gave it some pajamas and a pillow for its head. Then last night it ran away, but first it wet the bed! Tune: Take Me out to the Ballgame It's the first snowball of the season The first snowball of the year and I with some kids in the neighborhood rolled it and packed it and pounded it good and I brought it over to preschool the teachers think I'm a whiz! It's the first snow ball of the season and here it is! (we gave the kids styrofoam balls that they got to throw at the audience)
"Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman Once there was a snowman Tall, tall, tall. In the sun he melted, melted, melted In the sun he melted Small, small, small." Before you start, have the kids curl up in a ball on the floor and as they sing, have them slowly uncurl and stand up so that when they are singing "tall, tall, tall" they are reaching for the ceiling on their tip toes. Have them do the opposite with the second verse so that they end the song curled up in a ball.
