Hi all, I was wondering if any of you was planning to work for summer school as a sub. In my district, only degreed subs are allowed to sub for summer school. Surprisingly, the district is paying between $ 90-100/day for 3 hours of subbing (4 weeks). I am definitely going to sub. I think it's a nice opportunity to make some extra $$$. What do you think of that opportunity?
Nope. My kids don't qualify for summer school, so I have to pay daycare and it would zero out any money I made.
I subbed during the spring semester and was offered an actual teacher's position just for the summer. Are you in a large enough district that it's likely for you to get subbing jobs for these four weeks? I'm only asking because the district I am in has summer school for grades K-8, but there's only 1 teacher (maybe 2) for each grade. That is great sub pay for the summer, though!
Where I live, other classroom teachers are the subs for summer school. They don't use substitutes like they do during the school year. (This could just be at my school though, I'm not sure.)
Missml, I work for the one of the five largest districts in the US. There will be at least 30 teachers for each selected summer center, and I plan on adding my name on about 8 of these summer centers. I am guessing there is no way it will be a dead summer for me.
