This will be one of the first years we don't have to go to school on MLK Day, we usually have staff development for half a day which just messes up a long weekend. I'm looking forward to a three day weekend!!
We have Monday and Tuesday off and I'm hoping for Wednesday as the bars in DC are staying open until 4am Wednesday and I can't imagine everyone's going to leave before the school day begins.
We're off. I wish we'd be off tomorrow (Friday). We Alabamians are NOT used to this cold weather and tomorrow starts out in the low teens. Goodness.
All of the schools are closed around here. And - January 19th is DH and my 24th wedding anniversary!
We're off. For years we went that day, and then we had professional development for years after they started letting the kids be off that day. (I always had my PD finished, so I always stayed home that day anyway.) For at least the last 5 years it's been a day off for everyone.
My former district is off that day, but my wife's district has teacher development all day. I'll get to stay home with my two sons which I'm look forward to.
Tomorrow is a teacher workday but I have Monday off as a holiday and then Tuesday is an optional teacher workday which I am not going to go in so I get a 4 day weekend! It's the end of the 2nd quarter (1st semester) so I think that's why there's this extra day here but I'm not complaining!
Thanks! We got married in Panama City, Florida (where my husband was a senior master sergeant at Tyndall Air Force Base). It was a gorgeous day! There were sunny skies and temperatures were in the 70's - with warm, balmy breezes off the Gulf. Not so much for us this year - in frigid Ohio!
We are off The only thing we don't get off here that I am used to getting off back home in Kentucky is Election Day.
We have always gotten MLK off but we did not get President's Day off until we complained so now we get both.
OK, hold on to your hats: We're off Monday for MLK. We're off the following Friday for Founder's Day. Then we're off President's week. (Schools on LI always close that week-- it saves energy.)
Just got the call that we are off tomorrow due to wind chill!! That makes it a four day weekend for us!! Whoohoo!!!!
We are off. Some of my students are part of the celebration planned here in town, so I will go to that.
I just found out this week that we don't have school on Monday, and I'm often clueless about dates. I usually tell people to ask my children Huey or Hattie those questions adding "they should know because their dad is on the school board"
I am also off for MLK, we have a staff day the first week in Feb and then the whole wek off of President's day!!!
