In the DFW area, some districts are working till Wed & some are off already. While in Tx we start the same at beginning of the year(think this is the first year of doing it this way), it's interesting to see the variance of how holidays & professional development days are managed. Any way, just curious as to how many are already off or not.
I'm OFF!!!!!!!!! Whooooooo--hoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! :clap::2up::up: I'm slightly hysterical with glee!
I'm off for the whole week too. I spent Saturday doing homework, all day. Sunday I went clothes shopping and shopped for Thanksgiving feast. Today, I plan to so some more homework, and then I have a dental appointment. Don't know how I plan to spend the rest of the week.
The district I sub in is off the whole week as well. I'll be doing homework so I don't have to worry about it over the Thanksgiving holiday. And I have to come up with a dessert to take to dinner.
I'm off!!! But, I'm dealing with issues from a car accident last week....and I'm hoping to get plans done for all of December, that's my goal anyway!!!
I am also off for the week, which is good, because my dr. put me on VOICE REST! I spent Saturday shopping for Thanksgiving & Christmas, yesterday involved church & going to visit my daughter, son-in-law, & grandson (2 hrs. away), and today I am trying to dig my way through the stacks & stacks in my house! I plan to create my lesson plans for December also, if possible. I'm going in to the school tomorrow (the custodian will be there) so I can put December up (took down all of the Nov./Thanksgiving stuff Friday) and grab the rest of the stuff I need for my planning. We're doing Thanksgiving dinner at our church, so all I have to cook is a blackberry & an apple/cranberry pie. Hopefully, by this time next week (when I am back at work), I'll have a voice, three weeks of lesson plans, and a clean house!
I love this plan, I'm on lunch right now, but only have 2 days this week, maybe I'll use the time off for December plans. I love having a month done at a time!
We have P/T conferences this week (my first one is on 20 minutes or so) on Monday and Tuesday. Off Wednesday.
I am so happy this holiday is like this coming week. I am so off and will be resting. Though I have tons of Homework to do, and my side job to do for a day, I am planning to spend it quietly sleeping in bed.
I am off all week and absolutely loving it. I did laundry and grocery shopping Saturday. I started cleaning the kitchen on Sunday (major project - cleaning the fridge from top to bottom and cleaning out the pantry). Today I cleaned out a couple of cabinets, put away laundry, got an oil change, went to the bank so I would have cash for a trip Wed.-Fri. and am getting ready to start pulling some materials for school guided reading groups. Other than that I don't plan on doing anything else to do with school except grade some writing that is due in folders on the 3rd of Dec. I was so ready for this holiday.
Two day week...fieldtrip today and Thanksgiving activities tomorrow. Three days off and then my favorite time of the year with the kids. I love the holidays! There's so many chances to have fun!
OK--I made the mistake of scheduling a dental appointment for 9:00 on m first morning off. What was supposed to be a simple filling ended up being a root canal with a crown. I am now in severe pain. I wasn't going to use any pain pills but I am reconsidering my decision.
I also made an appt for early morning. Mine was for 8:30, and my first thought was "what was I thinking" :sorry: you're in pain, hope you're better soon
I'm teaching very part-time these days & attend college. I've been FREE since last Thurs the 20th & return to work & school on Dec. 1st.
Did that today! Now I'm thinking of getting a manicure too. Let's see if I can squeeze it in. Good to hear that some have been able to enjoy a few days off. I know I so needed it.
The phone rang this morning while I was snuggling in bed. It was Aesop - calling me for a sub job at the one and only school district that is open today. I hung up the phone and went back to sleep! :yawn: My pumpkin pies are almost done. The Pink Cloud Salad is cooling and then I can finish it up. Next, I'm going to work on cleaning and cutting vegetables. Hubby should be home from work soon - and our favorite son will be arriving any time! :wub:
Students are off by Noon on Nov 25th. I have PD that afternoon and Nov 26 is optional workday - optional if you don't want to get paid for that day if you don't have enough annual leave to take it or it's a workday if you don't. A lot took 1/2 day and you just work in your room catching up on stuff, etc.
