I'm still waiting for something to come up. One thing I'm happy about is that because I was already a full-time teacher with our board I won't have to interview. All I have to do is express interest to postings and if I am the most senior teacher interested in that posting, then I get it.
ME too....no job....but I am not giving up yet. You all have been so helpful in pointing out that many have gotten their first job after school has started....Think positive thoughts....Coffee come on...big smile!!
i'm still looking too! it's frustrating because it just doesn't seem like there's much out there at all.
Although I applied for a few positions, the timing was not right. I will be staying at my current job for at least another year.
Not yet. But last year I was hired the Thursday before school started - the last thursday in August - so I know that there will still be plenty of opportunities. AND - I have an interview next week!! :2up: Don't give up.
Add me to the bunch! I'm signed up to sub though, so at least that's something. I sent in a resume last week and the HR lady said the principal should call me tomorrow, so we'll see...
I'm also looking for a job and I had 2 interviews no bites though. Now I have some middle school endorsements so I hope that helps.
In my very best Ebonics... You no you iz not right!!! Just put everybody out there... Ok, me too...
Well.... I haven't found a job closer to home yet. I do still have my job 85 miles away, however my car, cats, house, and husband would really prefer that I get a job that's not an hour and a half away. So, I'm in this club, too.
Exclamation po, is that 85 miles each way? I debating whether or not I should take a new position that'll double my salary, but is about 45 miles each way. And I can't leave out that it's my dream position, primary literacy coaching position. Sooooo confused right now!
add me! I've been trying hard and interviewing but nothing has come through yet.... I'm soooo tired from the stress and waiting and interviewing!
Iteachtwo yes, that's 85 miles each way. An hour and a half to two and a half hours depending on traffic. I would offer a bribe for a job 45 miles each way. Take the job. Being 30 to 45 miles away from school sounds like a lot, but think about this.... If you're at the grocery store or pharmacy and don't look your best, do you really want to run into students or parents? And the drive will give you time to run through lessons and/or decompress from the day.
Exclamation Po, no I wouldn't want anyone to see me when I'm not looking my best. I'm possibly looking at 1 1/2 hours in the AM commute and 1 1/2-2 hours during the PM commute. Another important factor I can't believe I left out is that my children will be so far from me in case of an emergency. Even though my husband would be much closer, I'm used to dealing with the kids' emergencies.
Unfortunately I am still in this category. I just had an interview and demo for the school I am an aid in and they told me that I am not experienced enough for the position. : ( How do you get experience if no one will hire you?
me, but I still am hoping to hear back about either the private school or APS. I am also waiting to see if my nmreap application did anygood. I expressed interest in about ten jobs or so earlier today. The harderst thing for me is the misleading news reports all my friends and family keep seeing. They don't understand why people aren't begging for the large number of us looking for a job.
*raising hand and waving it around in the air* ME,ME...PICK ME, PICK ME!!! I've had only 2 interviews, sent out I don't know how many resumes, emailed principals several times...and no job yet. Bummer!
lol i love this. it was the same with me! i didn't get a 1st grade job b/c "i am meant for the intermediate grades". well bah humbug. a friend of a friend is also an aide. she was told the same thing as me. when she interviewed for an older grade, they told her she didn't have enough experience! ugh! p.s. i am going on my 9th interview on wed. and my 10th on thursday. wed. is a mat. leave so i am kinda hoping the one on thursday is the one. oy vay!
Ugh. I qualify for this club, unfortunately. I haven't had any interviews, or even a phone call, for that matter. I don't know what to do.
Me too.. jobless and starting to get depressed. I have an interview Friday and still waiting to hear back about a job I interviewed for the beginning of the month.
I don't have a job, or a boyfriend... waaaaaaa I get calls, I get interviews...what gives?? The only person calling me is the bank... about my car note that is 18 days past due!!!
Me too. I have had one interview and that was not a planned one, I kind of stumbled into it. It went well but I don't know if it will come to anything. I am not going to be negative..someone will call with the perfect job any day now, or any job or.. I just have to remember that God is in control and not me.
One day in September, October...uh January...we'll all look back, think about this and laugh.. won't we???...
I was blessed enough to get job back in April, but I wanted to lend my support to you all--- I wish you the very best in your job hunting and please don't give up. Hiring is still going on... you know you all are wonderful so please keep trying. Our students need ya all!
No job yet. Still searching, but it is rough times in PA if you are looking for an elem. teaching job, unless you live in the city (it might be a little better there) I do have an interview with the IU this morning and I hoping they offer me something. I was already a long term sub there this past year. Oh, I wish it could be that easy!! Good luck everyone!!
God I hope so. I keep sinking deeper and deeper into depression. There is absolutely nothing posted. I hate when friends say things like "I can't believe you didn't apply at such and such school. They just hired a dozen teachers." First off, I didn't know they were hiring. Second, I don't believe that they hired that many. Third, were they positions I was qualified for? Fourth, are you trying to make me feel worse? Why am I always a day late? All I want to do is work. Why can't someone see that?
I'm in the boat too. I've had no interviews and no phone calls. I've applied in two states and yet nothing. It doesn't help when your father calls you and tells you about some news report saying "x" school district has jobs only to have to remind him again that I'm not qualified for any of the positions... I'm just ready to have a classroom somewhere... Not to mention it would be nice to know where I'm going to be living.
i agree about the living situation Vievers. i just got engaged and my fiance and i want to move out this summer. it is basically all banking on me getting a job. ugh!
Well, I'm in the club, too. I've only had one interview and nothing else. Starting to wonder what else I can possibly do as a job with a teaching degree. I am trying to remain positive. I keep telling myself...God is in control. However, try telling that to someone else and they look at you with that "bless her heart, she doesn't stand a chance, she's grasping at straws and making excuses" look! Ha!
I would like to be a fly on the wall in the dist/principal's office: Hmm, we need a teacher. Okay, let's put out an ad. Alright, now...wait for 50 people to apply. Look over resumes. Call one or two, about 2-4 weeks from now, we don't want to seem desparate. Interview them, and keep them waiting until the day before school starts. Maybe we can get somebody better, and if not, we know they aren't going anywhere! If our friend/relative/bosses kid stops by, immediately give them the job. Never call the other person, who we really liked. They are bound to find something.
I just got married and moved to California in January. Depending on where I get a job I may be leaving the hubby and moving right back to where we moved from. :help:
I had to wait 4 years before I got my first job in a private school. I couldn't even get a job as a parapro because my district doesn't hire parapros with an education degree.
