Well, no job YET, but I'm really excited and just HAD to post that the principal at the middle school where I did my student teaching in Spring 06 called today to let me know that two jobs at his school will be posted in the next few weeks and he'd like for me to bid on them!!
He called last year a few days before school started to offer me a long term sub position for the whole year, but I had already taken one at an elementary school. I'm very surprised that the teacher I student taught for keeps reminding him about me!!
The way it works here is that jobs go up for bid as they come available and they are listed for a week. During that time, everyone who is interested in the jobs turns in bid sheets. The person with the most seniority (years in our county) gets the job, unless there's a tie for seniority. The prinicipal said the he can't guarantee that someone with fifteen years seniority won't bid, but if it comes down to new hires, then I have a 'legitimate chance' at getting one of the two jobs.
I'm very excited, but not so much so that I'll be crushed or anything if it doesn't pan out. I'm just glad to hear some good news after nothing for so long and had to share...It's one of my favorite schools, btw...Here's hoping!
That is awesome news... and an interesting way to hire teachers. Keep us posted
Wow, CONGRATULATIONS, teaching4god, tennisplayer, and electron!
I will keep my fingers crossed for you, queenie!!! Keep us posted on what is going on.
Congratulations on the new jobs, teaching4god and electron! Good luck, queenie!
Thanks all -- good luck to the jobseekers!

Second Grade Job!
After sending out what seemed to be a billion resumes... (At least 150-200) in the past year and half... I finally got a call today for a job interview. It was so last minute and I went there thinking... oh my gosh I haven't "brushed up" on my interview questions. It was the easiest interview of my life and the principal hired me on the spot. It's a charter school.... but it pays just as well as the public schools around here, great insurance, and they pay 50% to get my Master's Degree! I am pretty much still in shock right now.
Here's the kicker... I went shopping yesterday for a new interview suit for wishful thinking. It apparently worked!
I'm a true believer in "everything happens for a reason." Everyone's good vibes and prayers made it all happen!!!

Congrats, Optimist419!!! What wonderful news
Congrats, Optimist419! Congrats to anyone else who has recently found a new job!! :2up::2up::2up:
(Yep, I'm still around. Still busy with estate junk, work, and prepping for the school year. Hello to all, though, and I hope everyone's well!)
:2up:CONGRATS OPTIMIST419!!! That's fantastic news, good for you!!!
Congrats to all!!
I am so excited. I recently graduated and had been to 6 interviews. In each one they said that I made a strong candidate but they had hired someone with more experience. I had an interview with a preschool and they had interviewed quite a few people before me. I was thinking great just another "we hired someone with more experience." I got a phone call today saying that I was hired. The only thing is, is that it is a private school and I will only be getting paid 9.00 an hour. The thing is though is that I finally get to teach. Granted the money is not all that great but I am still overly excited. I start on Monday.
Congrats, dola!! Just think, this year experience will help you get that experience that you were lacking in previous interviews.
We all have to start somewhere!! Congrats on your job:2up:
WOW WEEEE!!! I can't believe all the new jobs! Congrats to each of you and good luck getting ready for the new year!!
I'll update shortly, need some snacks because this may take a while!
Here we go! Congrats again everyone and good luck to those still looking.

Lemonhead, I should probably be 'High School Physics' -- despite that I might be qualified to moonlight until we hire the new Chem specialist, I'm not really a Chemistry teacher Thanks for updating the list!
SciTeacherNY, congrats. But you have one more task: Go read some of the other threads in this forum about difficulty of the jobsearch, and then join me in the 'feeling vaguely guilty' corner
How long have you been trying? I graduated in 2007, tried for 1 year to find a job while subbing and applying to every school district within an hours drive. How many resumes did you send out? I actually emailed resumes and cover letter to every school withing 6 school districts.
How many interviews or job fairs? I had 2 interviews this year and 2 last summer. I went to 6 job fairs.
What general geographic area? TexasAnd of course what grade and/or subject? Kindergarten
Advice - Make contacts through college, subbing and student teaching. Stay in touch and don't be afraid to ask for reference letters. My new job is one that I got through one of my contacts from student teaching.
Congrats on the job TexFW1!!!!!
I am a first grade teacher again! Hooray! After leaving teaching 10 years ago to stay home with the kids I now get to have children to love at school and at home. I couldn't be happier.
How long have you been trying? since May
How many resumes did you send out? 25
How many interviews or job fairs? 3 interviews and 2 job fairs
What general geographic area? Texas

I'm completely new to all this, but everyone's new at some point right? Anyway I got a 7th grade Science job woooo hoooo science!!!
How long have I been trying? Since graduation in May
How many resumes sent out? 12
How many interviews/job fairs? 5 interviews 0 job fairs
What grade/subject? 7th grade Science (I said that twice oops)
