Yay, Linds! My job is at the school where I ST and LTS, and I found it was terrific, b/c I was already so comfortable! Have fun teaching second grade!
Yeah!!!! Congrats to you! I will be the only first year teacher too!! It is scary.
I am so happy for you. I know you must be relieved! I hope you keep hanging out here. It is so helpful.
Congrats! How long have you been looking and how many resumes did you send out? Will you be teaching first grade? I realize your avatar says that but I am not sure if that is old or new.
Woooo Hoooo happy for Youuuuu!
I have sent out about 18 resumes and this was my top pick. I just started looking this February. I am not sure the grade yet. Since its a new school, the grades will start with K-1 and then each year it will add on a grade. So I will either teach K or 1st but hopefully 1.
Wow! What a super start to the week!!!
Way to go Backpocket, Canadian Gal, and Lindsnh!!!
Congrats b2teach and Lindsnh!!

How long have you been trying? Not really trying, but looking for about 2 months. I had decided to apply for job to practise interviewing and to accept if something good came along I was only looking for half-day work as I work as an interventionist / facilitator part-time.
How many resumes did you send out? I sent my CV to every school in my area, and applied to 4 jobs. Got interviews at 3 (one still in the pipeline so will have to decline if offered), turned down one.
How many interviews or job fairs? 3 interviews.
What general geographic area? 10 mins drive from home!!
And of course what grade and/or subject? Grade R (Kinder) TA. Head of Grade R wants to split the class for part of the day so needs someone to take half the class - ME
How it all happened...
Heard via friend that school was looking for a student teacher to work as a TA (our major university here is correspondence so ST's usually work as TA's or Interns whilst studying). I'm qualified so didn't think I would get it. Applied for the job anyway and was offered an interview. Went for interview. All of 20 minutes which included a brief look around the school (I think it helped that I know the other teachers ) Was told that there were 3 other applicants interviewing. Later that day get a phone call. Teacher I interviewed with says that they (she spoke to the head of the school and the teachers and the HOD's etc) don't feel that they can offer me the position at the TA salary as I'm fully qualified, so if I'm still interested, they will cut my hours from 7 - 3pm to 7:30 - 11 and keep the salary the same. So, its OK for me They get a bonus - qualified teacher as a TA and I get my foot in at the school (very good school). And I'm happy because I get to keep my interventionist position (12:30 - 3:30pm) and both jobs finish at the end of 2008 (end of our school year)
Going to sign contract next week
