All the schools in my area use MS Internet Explorer. At home I use both IE and Mozilla Firefox.

Which browser does your school use? Do you have a choice between IE and Firefox? (BTW, Microsoft will be releasing IE 8 today. )

    Major..........:)

I use MoFox and IE about the same amount.

We need our students (we are 1:1) to run IE at school because of a monitoring tool we use (I'm sure it is a simple tweek to allow monitoring of both IE and MoFox, but it hasn't happened, yet).

At home I use IE slightly because my "favorites" are simply easier for me. I do think Firefox is slightly faster.

Internet Explorer exclusively in our board (although a few years ago when we our new report card program came on-line the teachers needed to access it through Firefox or it would freeze up on us)

My husband is somewhat of a computer geek, so he got me onto Firefox. I was reluctant at first, but now I'm hooked. I love how customizable it is. We're not supposed to have it on our computers at school, but my husband discovered a workaround, so I'm using it "illegally."

I use IE at school but don't care for it. I think I'll install Mozilla right now, actually.

    I use Mozilla at home.

I will definitely NOT be in the first wave to test IE8. It will be interesting to see what people have to say in a week or so......:)

We were actually told at a technology conference I went to reciently NOT to use IE if we can help it... viruses spread too easy and IE is the biggest target.
I use Google Chrome and LOVE it but we're allowed to use what we want at school.

When I got my school issued laptop, my principal asked me if it would like it imaged. That means loaded with bundled software and also set up to work with the district servers.

I insisted it not be imaged because I was a legal owner of all the software I needed for it.

I have one of the few laptops that still works.

The first thing I did was load Firefox and haven't looked back. I only use IE when I have to access things like the grade reporting system from home.

Personally, I think that Microsoft and many of the spammers are in cohoots with each other and that Microsoft intentionally set up Internet Explorer to make your computer open to outside manipulation.

I also don't use the district email. As a result, I'm the only teacher at the school who can open his inbox with students looking over his shoulder.

Sarge, most of my friends are very computer savvy.... and give me grief for using IE at all. It will be interesting to see how IE8 plays out. I understand a new version of Firefox is also on the way.........

Safari at home, except for one program that requires Camino.

At home, I use either Firefox or IE.

Anyone use Netscape anymore? It is even around... hmmmm.

Is Firefox 3.1 Beta 3 the same as the "to be released" production version?

I believe that this is the last beta version before the full 3.1 is available. the beta 3 version seem pretty stable so I doubt there will be many changes.

I read somewhere that Mozilla was racing to get 3.1 out before MS released IE8. I assume 3.1 is coming out soon......

I've used IE, FF, Opera, and Flock. And fixed settings for my Dad in Safari.

Someday I'll see if I can use perl and tcl or ruby or something to write a custom web browser. It'll be awful, but fun.

I use Firefox at home - love the colorful tabs extension and the fact that I can have 24 tabs open at once and see each one of them.

This wont fly at my school

The IT person has locked down all the computers so you cant install any new software on them without going through a multistep procedure. (it took me a month to get Google earth allowed) There is NO WAY that a beta would be allowed. plus he does no like free software. The school doesn't have the money for the current copy of Office. AbiWord is free and much better suited for this grade level (6-8), but I cant use it. :|

    The only time

I willingly use IE is when I do my byweekly windows upgrades. Any other time I use FF or Chrome (it seems to be very fast with YouTube, makes sense as Google owns YouTube).

:2cents: Have you tried SeaMonkey? Its a new browser, but has the look and feel of Netscape circa 4.7 :2cents:
