Airfare prices are pretty reasonable right now, especially to Hawaii. We're brainstorming vacation ideas and would love to hear where you love to travel to! :) We don't have kids, so that makes things a little easier right now in terms of traveling.

    I'm thinking:

    Universal Studios
    Las Vegas
    Hawaii
Washington DC/Pennsylvania (I want to see how the Amish live sometime!)

LOVED Hawaii, went when I was HS. Mom had to go for work.

We as a family love going to Pigeon Forge & staying in the cabins. We went before kids & now have been after!!!

I love Disney World, with or without kids.

I would love to see Alaska someday, and Hawaii as well.

I've never heard of Pigeon Forge but you're the 2nd person to mention it in this thread!

What do you like to do in Las Vegas? There is a magic show I really want to see with Steve Wyrick.. I heard it's a lot of fun.

My favorite place would be Hawaii...Kauai to be exact. :) I went for my first time last year and got married, it was awesome.

Out of the 4 places you listed, I would choose Hawaii or DC. Universal isn't that fun, and Vegas gets old (or maybe I've just been there too many times?).

DC is cool because you get to see so much history, the buildings, the musuems...it's really fun. :)

    TennisPlayer,

Pigeon Forge is GREAT. It's right near the Smokey Mountains on the TN/NC border. There are tons of country shows and Dollywood is there as well. Touring the Smokies is great, too.

In Vegas, I love to go to shows and just sightsee around the casinos--
Some good shows are the Scintas (My fav- they're currently at the Hilton), Price is Right and American Superstars-- The Cirque shows are fabulous as well. It's also fun to drive out to Red Rock Canyon, beautiful scenery!

Have fun traveling! This is a great thread!

I am moving to Lancaster this summer (where my BF lives) and there is a lot to do there. Just understand that by "seeing how the Amish lives" means the non-Amish version of how they live, because all of the tours and houses are just replicas of everything. They remain pretty private.

However, if you want to go to that area, there is a ton to do. Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland, PA Renn Faire are all right in that area. However, all of that is closed (mostly) in the winter. It's cold and nasty here now.

    I highly recommend Yellowstone!

Also, there's a lot of great stuff to do in Colorado.

In case you can't tell, I'm a mountain kind of girl. :)

I have always wanted to just get in the car and drive. My best vacations are cruises. You get to stay in the same room each night and the whole ship moves. There is always lots to do on board, and wonderful shore trips. I have been on cruises to Mexico twice and Alaska once. I would hop on a cruise today if someone would pay for it. We try to plan a cruise every couple of years.

Let me put in a small plug for New York City.

There's way too much to list. And way too much that I haven't seen-- you know how you never play tourist in your own back yard.

But everyone should see New York at least once!!!

I also love Chicago!! It's a huge city that feels like a small town, and the food is amazing!!!

The last time I was in New Orleans, it was pre-Katrina. But I had the time of my life, and New Orleans will always have a special place in my heart.

I agree with New Orleans - even post Katrina. The food is amazing and the people have a remarkable spirit. The architecture is amazing too. It has a special place in my heart too!

I second the Gaitlinburg/Pidgeon Forge, Tn recommendation and the number one recommendation is of course ANY cruise.

Honestly, I'd love to go back to every US desitnation I've been to:

    Hawaii
    New York
    Vegas
    Florida
    Georgia
    Arizona
    Utah...maybe, maybe not.
    Newport Beach
    San Diego
    various other CA cities

Ummm, actually I'd never ever go back to Catalina Island.

My favorite vacation destination is the gulf coast of Florida. Although I must go to New Orleans at least a couple of times a year. I am not sure if you have children, but you must be really careful bringing children to New Orleans.

I've always wanted to go to New Orleans. What's the issue about being careful bringing kids? Do kidnappings happen often or something? (I just never heard that before).
