I wish there would be more people on this forum. It a great place! I have posted two threads and no feedback. I understand everyone is busy and it's been a heck of a year. Hope you all are doing well!

It is a very nice forum with very polite posters. So, times being tough, maybe everyone's gone to Reddit o_O

It seems to come and go in waves. In my case, state testing has been kicking my tush, so I've been mostly offline except to do my moderator duties. So glad that ends tomorrow!

It looks like you posted over the weekend. Personally, I don't come here over the weekend. I only check out the threads when I have a few minutes free during the school day. There are a lot of people who post but not enough to respond the minute you post something.

This one has never been quite as active as another one I frequent. I read more than I post because a lot of the time there just isn’t anything to add.

You all are right, the weekends and state testing. Everyone is so busy too. This place is amazing though. There are so many sections in the forums. Whoever created this discussion forum took lots of time and did a great job!

Hello everyone. The same here. Too busy at the end of the year. But really enjoy the site, so come here now and then.

Back when I joined in 2007, this site/forum was the place to be. Multiple folks would respond to threads within a matter of minutes, so feedback was received very quickly. I stopped checking this site about 2-3 years ago when I noticed that educators were posting infrequently. Makes me sad.

Some user activity on internet forums is frequent but insignificant. I'm not one of those posters who rack up message count by contributing a smiley or one sentence here n' there.

I have noticed that on this site that the most participation is off-topic "fun stuff".
Start a post about "Your favorite flavor of ice cream" and watch what happens. A question about our profession takes more thought, so expect less activity. Some teachers have nothing to contribute because they lack previous experience to chime in.

But not when it comes to ice cream! Odds are that the responses will roll in.

Then we have controversial subjects - let's take vaccines for example. That brings out emotions and sometimes the replies can make people feel uncomfortable. After a negative experience or feeling that nobody is allowed to "agree to disagree", then who would WANT to talk about anything other than ice cream flavors?

My life got swamped and I haven't been able to get on here in a while now.
I think as the weather gets nicer out, people spend less time inside too.

I visit a lot of teacher groups on Facebook. If you have specific questions you need an immediate response to those are the groups you should check out. I personally only come to this site on my work computer and never check it on my phone so.

I don't know about you guys, but I sort of went through a phase of avoiding pd/ed topics during the pandemic's initial challenges. I'm starting to get curious and read about educational things again in my free time. It's a good sign. I guess I am finally moving out of triage mode and getting back into seeing teaching as my profession again. :)

I’m sure that the ability to send PMs has contributed to posters being reluctant to post. Better not cross the line or else.

What does "crossing the line" have to do with PMs?

I think many teachers have been so exhausted by this year, they've had a hard time keeping up with much more than their basic IRL stuff.
Now that my summer break has started (finally!) I feel so much more free with a bit more breathing space to do more than just zone out at night (and certainly during the day!).

My school's graduation was yesterday and I'm still emotionally spent but SO HAPPY! It was an emotional day, and I'm not quite ready to let go of several of these kiddos, but I'm glad to continue as their mentor and friend, if not their teacher. At least one of them insisted on calling me by my first name to show that he had earned that right. He was also the one who walked off stage balancing his diploma on his mortarboard, so that's perfect.

    They're unfortunately really defamatory.

Yeah, this is the end of the school year. I'm also preparing for the advanced training, have several assignments at the moment. I search and read all info linked with my own study, and have too much work staff. So I have almost no free time.
