I am a substitute teacher and love wearing skirts or dresses while I am subbing. I think that it looks more professional. The problem is that skirts have gotten so short lately it's really hard to find any that I can wear while I teach. Where do you find nice, longer (below the knee length) skirts?

Anthropologie-love their clearance/sale section, and they have very modest, cute skirts and dresses. I love the fuller skirts, as they allow me to eat dessert without guilt.

All of my skirts are from Old Navy. :) IN fact, I'm wearing this one right now. :) Not for work, I suppose, unless you wear it with tights????

I would love to shop from there, but I just can't afford it, even at sale prices. Maybe one day...

I have gotten a few of my favorites from Kohl's. My "go-to" skirt, as I call it, was $9 on the clearance rack and it can be dressy or casual, whenever I need it.

    Macys and Lands End.

I put stuff from Macys on my wish list and then it will alert it when it goes on sale.

New York and Company and Gap mostly. I found a really cute one at NY and CO recently. Also got a Calvin Klein one at a good price at Macy's not that long ago.

I went to Old Navy in search of skirts today. I want my skirts at the knee or slightly below. I have really short legs, and long skirts make me look really dumpy.

They had maxi skirts that were so long that I could have made the skirt into a tube dress and still needed to wear heels with it. Then they had a huge collection of "hoochie length" skirts. Since I have short legs, I did try one on. They were mid-thigh on me, but I'm way too old and fat for that. I finally found some knee-length knit skirts, but I couldn't find the size that fit right. XXL was too big. L was perfect in the hips/thighs, but tight in the waist. XL might have been perfect, but they didn't have anything in that size.

I have all colors in their "pencil skirt" . . . only they aren't pencil skirts. They are a-line skirts.

I've seen a ton of slim, high-waisted skirts lately, but I cannot wear those. I carry my weight above my waist. If I found one to fit my waist, it would be HUGE everywhere else.

Ann Taylor (go when there is a sale) and NY & Company both have tons of "teacher clothes." Otherwise, check out the misses section of JcPenny, Kohls, Macy's, Dillards, or any other department store. I probably find the most things at Kohls. I carry more weight in my stomach while my hips/legs are downright tiny, so I find buying pants that actually fit well is extremely difficult. I prefer to wear dresses/skirts most of the time because the only thing I had to really fit to is my waist, and I actually think they're more comfortable. I have tons of skirts/dresses for work and I've never had a problem finding ones that are just below the knee.

I get a ton of my work stuff from Coldwater Creek. They can be pretty pricey so hit the outlet/clearance section online. Their return policy is great.

Because of my weight and size, I shop at Dots fashion and Lane Bryant (when they have sales). I love wearing skirts (especially long, flowing skirts) but don't have a lot of them especially for professional wear. I am stocking up. I like long skirts. I bought a mid-thigh summer dress, which felt weird for me. I felt like I was flashing everybody  but I really wasn't. I am petite (5'3). It can be hard to find something that fit my size and height.

I like denim skirts too. Only have two pairs that are 4-5 years old. Looking for replacements to retire them.

I think you would have luck at Penney's. Their Worthington brand has a lot of skirt options.
