I need to get one for my 4/5 combo class. Don't want to spend a bunch of money, don't want it too babyish. What do you use?

I have a black trunk that I got free from Freecycle.org. You could also look on Craigslist. Two years ago I used a huge catering box from Jamba Juice covered in brown paper. They are WONDERFUL-if you have a local one, maybe ask the manager for one?

mine came from hobby lobby. They have a section of wooden items that can be painted. I found a lidded box shaped like an alphabet block. I never painted mine and it is still very cute.

I made mine from an old xerox box, painted blue on both the lid and box. Pretty cheap. :)

I painted a big shoebox black and hot glued craft jewels all over it. The kids think it is the best treasure box ever!

Mine is a super old chest (that's breaking.. but that makes it so much cooler) that I found at a junk yard.

Well .. not exactly a junk yard. My mom's friend's parents collect "stuff".. and sell it from their yard..

when I had one, I used a styrofoam ice chest (they have at Dollar store), spray painted it gold and hot glued on 'jewels'. Really cute.

I got mine from Oriental Trading, or some cheap supply store like that. It's cardboard, and I had to put it together. But it literally cost about $1.25.

I use a big R2D2 cooler that I won from a CircleK drawing years ago. Its head lifts up so its great for prizes. And my 5th graders love having R2 in the room.

you could use an old Scholastic box, since it's hinge-style, and wrap it up with pretty wrapping paper and then use clear contact paper so that it lasts.
