My finals start December 5th and will be done by Dec 9th (maybe before then - haven't gotten my final exam schedule yet). Spring semester starts on January 9th... a full month off!
The last day of school is the 16th and then we go back on Jan. 2nd. So I get a full two weeks off. My dad's school has to work until the thursday of christmas week, and then also goes back on the 2nd. Makes me appreciate my schedule!
Ou last day is the 15th and I don't go back until the 4th. So I have the longest break I've had since I started teaching, and of course it's the year my husband is gone!
Our schedule is the same as Waterfalls... last day Dec. 16 and back on Jan. 2nd. We got an entire week for Thanksgiving, and that was LOVELY!
I had to go and check the website. Our last day is December 22nd. We return to school on January 3rd. Then it's about 6 weeks 'till February break.
We always have 3 weeks. We get out on December 16 and go back on January 9 this year. I love this long break! However, we start school the 2nd week of August, which is much earlier than many of you.
Our last day is December 20. We go back on January 3rd, unless we have any snow days to make up, in which case we'll go back on the 2nd.
My district's only tried 1x of having 3 wks off, which of course I loved, but they never did it again.
We always have 2 full weeks off. Although I don't love working until the 23rd, I'm going to love being off for so long after Christmas!
We are off from the 16th to the 2nd. I wish we had longer after New Year's off, but we do get a nice, long week off before Christmas.
That's a looong break. You just had ten days off for Thanksgiving too...your calendar is much different than mine! This is mine as well. Truthfully, my four days off for Thanksgiving was a restful respite...the December break will be wonderful, relaxing family time. Looking forward, but much to do in the meantime.
The stretch I hate is from january to march. We have no days off, save for one inservice and a 2:00 dismissal for pt conferences. Looong, dark days. I usually work 12 hour days due to coaching, and it really wears on me...
We have some kind of break about every nine weeks. Jewish holidays (1or2 days in September), two days for teachers convention in November plus the long weekend for Thanksgiving, December holiday, February break, spring break around Easter, Memorial Day...but pretty much just a week for the bigger breaks, maybe just a bit longer if bookended by weekends. It's enough...we don't start school until after Labor Day so if we had longer breaks we'd go to school until July to get all our days in.
Ours is December 22 to January 2. We get less time this year because of the number of snow days we've missed the past couple of years. We started August 1st, too.
Now that I count, my holiday isn't quite as long as Ms I's--we work the 23rd and go back on the 9th--16 days.
Yes, we SLPs get the Fri the 23rd off for staff dev that the regular teachers have to work on & w/ my usual Mondays off, I have that extra Mon., the 9th off at the very end. Ha!
We get out early on 15 th. We have work day 16th but usually it is not much of a workday. We come in. Make sure our grades are done and then chit chat until lunch time. We go back Jan 2. Personally it's not soon enough and not long enough. Have some major issues with one of my students and sure could use a longgggg break from the drama.
I've been on Xmas holidays since last May..... (except of honey-do's).. We will be back from Florida sometimes in January ...... but most likely I will take the rest of the year off....... It's been fun.........
We got some very exciting news today! Our school is currently doing a $2 million renovation/addition. In order to accommodate this, the village has to install a new transformer, which means no electricity for several days. Soooo...we are getting out for Christmas break early! December 20 is the last day for kids. We will have inservice days on the 21 and 22, but we have to go to the community building, which will be very relaxed and easy days. And...since there will be no electricity for several days, and therefore no heat, on the 20th they will have to crank up the heat to create enough residual to last a while. So we are likely going to load up all of our students (we fit on 2 busses) and go to a movie theater (in the next town over-about 20 miles) for our Christmas parties! This is such exciting news! We rarely have days off, so this is a treat. In addition to Christmas, Easter, and 2 days at Thanksgiving, we only have 1 day for fall break and 1 day for spring break. So this is HUGE! It also helps to see the new addition starting to take shape!
Last day of school is the 23rd and we'll go back on the second, courtesy of Christmas falling on a Sunday this year. I blame it on the fact that we get the first day of hunting season around here off because no one including a lot of the teachers would show up for school. And then there is NO break, at all, until Easter. It's not so bad for me because I'm still subbing, but everyone gets restless and it was bad when I was still in school.
This is us too!! And yes, bandnerd, that week off was GREAT! I just hate that long stretch from Jan to March....might be signing up for some professional development opportunities! Awesome news, kc!!
This is when mine is, too. It's great because I celebrate with family here, and then travel after Christmas to celebrate with my sisters in another province.
The news keeps getting better...due to internet connectivity issues, we may have to meet at a local business that just built a brand new conference room, and we're having a big pot luck. And, my P, who knows I'm starting an admin program, is talking to me about leading part of the day!
Our break is Dec 24-Jan.1 Typically we have a half day on the 24th. Then it's straight...no days off until the Wednesday before Memorial Day. We run a tight Labor Day to Memorial Day calendar.
