Here is some things happening for next year: -This year, we were from 6 grade to 10th grade. Next year, we will be from 6th grade to 11th grade. -We will have more than 5 new teachers for the 11th grade. -We will have a new assistant principal for the 9th grade. -9th grade will be moved from the first floor to the third floor. -My current assistant principal will be adminsitering the 10th and 11the grade next year. School starts on September 1st 2011. When do you think I should expect my school's website to change?
Probably not until about August 31st. With all the important changes, changing a website may be waaayyyy low on the list of priorities.
In mine, pictures are posted before the kids arrive home from the event that just happened. But I'm guessing that Marcus' school is a little overwhelmed at the moment. And I'm guessing that they won't post the names of the 5 new Junior teachers until September, in case things change.
We won't have staff assignments posted until the week school starts; there will likely be changes between now and then. There won't be any changes in administration, but if there were, I would expect that to be posted at the same time. Our tentative teaching assignments are listed in the last newsletter of the year that will go home on Monday with the student report cards. Our room numbers are not publicly posted.
We will update our system in middle/late August. The tech teacher and I get together and take a day to update student and teacher accounts, etc. for the the coming year.
Good point. The tech person who updates the site is probably on vacation. Seems as though the information is already public knowledge since Marcus is aware of it, so there's no pressing need to update right now....
I would think the answer would depend on who is responsible for updating the website and what their other responsibilities are and what their work schedule is. If it's done by a central administration person who works year around, any time. If it's done by a tech person who works the school year, not until they return from summer break.
Marcus, what you need to do is find out who is in charge of technology at your district. Email them daily until it's updated.
Teachers would like it if parents took a more proactive role when it comes to lighting a fire under the collective backsides of the district office and getting them to do stuff. But since the parents have jobs and kids to look after, they're counting on you to do it.
Are you wanting the website to be updated so you have more information about next year (teachers, classrooms, etc.)? If so, I don't think politely asking when that information will be available would be rude at all. If, however, you already know that information and are just sort of sarcastically saying, "I see you haven't updated the website yet..." then they might get slightly annoyed. As others have mentioned, that might not be their first priority in the midst of so many changes. (BTW, I'm not saying that's your reasoning, just helping you think of how to word your request.)
Well, if I call the principal and ask if they're updating the school's website he might say 'that's not your business' even if I do it in a politeful way. I will try it, but I can't gaurantee I'll get a nice answer.
It really depends on the school and the district. In my current school, changes to the website are made between 1-2 weeks before the school year. At most old school, I'm still listed as a teaher on the website a year and a half after I left.
