When is your last day??

Tomorrow the kids are released at 11:00. I can hardly wait! We start up again on Aug. 22.

 

Just in so you know I do know what a snow day is. I did grow up on Long Island and went to college in Oswego NY (over 100" of snow in about a week)

 

Kids last day yesterday. First day back for teachers Aug 13; students Aug. 20. They changed the start time this year we have to go until June next year.

 

Oh, I figured you might know a little about it, but you know a lot! What we need to do is think of something for your neck of the woods to get you out for a day every once in a while...heat stroke days or something. I'm sure you can come up with something more creative.

Upsadaisy, sweat days would be nice! Last year, we had indoor recess and lunch for the first 2 months of school. Almost every single day we hit over a 100 degrees--even up to 117 one day!

 

Where is that, eduk8r?

The other day, when you entered our main building (true, not large), you were hit with an undercurrent of BO. We have no place for indoor recess. They have to play outside. P-U!

 

We have only had two "days" off in the last 15 years. One for a hurricane (just a big wind), and one for an electrical panel malfunction (fixed 10 minutes after school was cancellated)

It's weird, in the winter we have global colding, in the summer, global warming! No, really, the weather has become a bit erratic and more extreme over the last 4 years or so. We even had snow (for like, 5 minutes and then it melted) this winter! It never used to get over 105 here, and that was rare and a "heatwave." But lately, every July-August-beginning of September, it's so hot! I like the sun, but when you can't go swimming 'cause you're at work, oooh!

 

Yesterday!!! Yippee!!!! However, summer school starts on June4th

Hooray!! Today was my last day with students(5/25/07). 3 days of post planning to go.

Yeah!!!! Yesterday was the kids' last day! I have to report next week to tie up loose ends and clean, but who cares? The kids are gone.

 

The 8th is our last day students and teacher but because I am switching from "Shop" to math I have quite a few things in the shop I need to get out (14 years in the same shop, well not all in the same room but my whole shop was moved the 2 times the shop was relocated) so the week after I will be working my backside off.(thank God for A/C)

 

May 25th was our last workday. Our school is getting new heating and AC so the workers showed up Friday morning expecting to get into the classrooms. We were still working on reports and cleaning! These guys were upset that they could not tear down the ceilings while we were still in our rooms and they let us know that! After a few choice words and a call to the central office they were told to work around us! But will they be finished in time for school to start in August? We ALL know that answer!

 

May 25

 

We have 4 days next week. The last day the kids will be at the Rapids and I got out of chaperoning. Yay!! Then the following week, teachers work 3 days, I think. But, as was said above, who cares when there are no kids there. We play music loudly and sing and organize stuff and eat donuts.

 

Two work days left (Tuesday and Wednesday) and then I am free. I escaped the summer school duty (as far as I know right now) so I don't have to worry about anything until July 20th other than working on getting ready for 3rd grade.
It was soooooo wonderful to put them on the bus for the last time (at least for the next eight weeks). The little angels with tarnished halos and I needed the break from each other. I will be glad to see them in July but I was also ready to see them go home.

 

Will all you lucky ducks who are done stop making me jealous? As I mentioned, my last day isn't until the June 20...today, the teacher we took a trip to the beach!! Picture this-24 3 year olds at the big giant beach with 4 adults supervising (no chaperones-only the staff)-and they went in the water!! I'm not home yet, so I still didn't get rid of all the sand.

 

We have today, which is field day!! OMG I am going to die in the heat. Then half day tomorrow, and half a work day on Saturday. Then come Monday morning I am teaching summer school. UGHHHH.

 

First day home. Worked out and have played with the 3 year old
most of moring. We go back Aug 14th and like the SC lady will go until June next year.

 

June 7th is the last day with students. So much to do and so little time!!

 

Today is my 1st day home, too. I slept in, now my kids are going crazy because we are cleaning house and they don't want to. I promised them we'd go to the pool, but we are getting a lot of smoke from the fires in South Georgia, so we may have to wait until tomorrow.

 

My last day is June 22. We started the Wed after Labor Day. I think we have 16 school days left...I can't wait!!!

As far as teachers are concerned, it depends. My vacation month is August, which means that I may get called to work in July (so to correct National Math Exams, for instance.)
School starts in September 1st, for teachers. and by the middle of the month for the students.

 

The Final Countdown

Hey only 3 days left here & only 1.5 with the kids! The song "The Final Countdown" keeps playing in my head! Yea- It's my first year and I did it!

 

Last day was May 25. But I am teaching summer school now - so I'll have 18 more school days to go....

 

Tomorrow is our last teacher work day - and we are being treated to lunch at the Croquet Club, a beautiful place. Today we signed contracts and finished up in our rooms. I am looking forward to total relaxation this summer - the first summer I won't be tutoring in many years. Ahhhhhh ......

Yesterday was our last day. All I have left to do is clean my dreaded closet! We were told last Thursday that we had to make sure everything could be taken out so they could wax it. That's going to be an all day project.

 

That would kill me, Miss W. I packed everything into my closet so they could get to the floor in the room.

 

June 21nd. I don't know if I'll make it.

 

June 19th. I was excited to end the year on a nice note, but the admin suddenly dumped a load of paperwork on us that is making everyone crazy: the kids because they need to take ridiculous assessments, the teachers because they need to mark it all "today" and deal with the kids, and me because I have to deal with all of them while doing ridiculous things involved with recording and filing all these bleep bleep tests.

 

My last day will be when I retire at age 65. I work year round, teaching Pre-K during the school year and do a summer program at the daycare.

 

My final day with this group of kids is tomorrow, and I'm very sad about it. I will miss them and I will cry when they walk out the door tomorrow. There will be no yippee from me this year.

 

My last day was today. Yesterday it was with the kids. It was very discouraging. I am getting to the point I think I expect too much and set myself up for disappointment every year. It was a tough year in so many ways.

 

I was very happy tp be rid of a few of the boys. They were awful.

 

I have two weeks left. I have so much to do: report cards, pack/clean the room, end of the year show, a field trip and a picnic. It is going to be very busy.

I told my principal I have teacheritis (sp?) she just laughed at me.
