When is your first day of school?

August 15 for kids

August 12 for us

Students--August 15

 

Well we still don't have a calendar due to contract negotiations but I think the proposed dates are Aug. 24th for teachers and Aug. 29th for students.

Students August 15

 

I have an orientation on the 12th. First day with students on the 18th.

 

Teachers-July 26th (My grade level is having an all-day meeting on the 25th though)

Students-August 1st

 

We have to work one day, any day, in our classrooms the week of the 15th. Then there are 2 teacher days the next week, and kids the next week. They really like to drag it out.

I'm just going to say it... I don't know. I know it is sometime in mid August, but I am not there yet. I will be in about two weeks. That is when the itch to teach hits me hard and I am ready to go back...

I have a training on some new material Aug 1st the 4th, but some teachers opted to go during the school year, so its not everyone.

Wow! I am surprised to see that so many schools start that early! To me, the beginning of August still feels like summer. Thankfully, the good thing about being a sub is a slightly longer summer. After all the kids are back in school, I still have a list of summer things that I would like to do and it will be more enjoyable without all the crowds. At the top of my list, is going to the Iowa State Fair! Most schools will have started back by the second week of it and hopefully that will mean it will be a little emptier during the day at least! I guess subbing does have some advantages!

 

This is only our 2nd year going back that early. We used to go back around Sept 10th.

Open House is sometime during planning week. Should be getting the welcome back letter soon. I guess its time to actually start thinking about next year.

 

Here they say we're on a year-round schedule, but the only extra break is a week-long fall break. All of the other breaks are the same as everyone else gets on a traditional schedule. So I just think it's a longer school year here!

Wow - that doesn't give you much time to prepare!!! One day!

We don't start back until the day after Labor Day. We were in session until June 13th.

Teachers go back for three days...August 23-25. Then we all start September 6.
