Don't tell me it has already! (kidding!) We have full school days Monday and Tuesday still. I would have LOVE LOVE LOVED to be done today. This was the longest week of my life!
Due to a snow day, my vacation started Thursday at 3:25!!!! Yeah Snow!!! The only down side is that we made clay ornaments that are still in the kiln. I had planned for them to take them home today. well, they'll be New Year's gifts for the family!
We were supposed to have our last day today, but mother nature had another idea. I suppose that means my vacay started at 3:35 yesterday!
Today was my last day. I will start again on the 5th. I have plans to go in at least one day to work in my room.
Today was supposed to be my last day, but we had a snow day! So I started my break early... Yesterday we had a late start, and I only had 12 students there (out of 22) so it was an easy day.
Yesterday at 3:10 and I was SOOOOOOOO excited!!! We were supposed to be doing report cards today but snow storm prevented that...darn! Two full weeks with NO kiddies!! We go back Jan. 5th.
Our students left at 2:35 on Friday and return on January 5th. The school will be open next week on Monday and Tuesday because of the daycare program, but I'm not going anywhere near it!
That depends on the weather. We have one more day of exams we need to get through. If Sunday's projected snowstorm cancels school on Monday, the whole school is in on Tuesday. Otherwise, it's just those of us (me included) who have a kid coming in for a makeup exam.
Yesterday, Friday, we were able to leave at 11:00. I was sooo excited. The P came on the intercom and said he was going to be in his office and if he didn't see us escape it was ok. We were originally supposed to stay until 2:00.
December 19th at noon until January 5th. I am happy for the break so I can (finally) do some housework I will miss the kids, though. What a sap, huh?
I'll join you as a sap. Actually, I'll not so much miss some of my students as worry about them. Some have been making some very unwise choices outside of school and I'm worried that without the structure and safe environment of the school they may escalate. Oh well, I have to let it go and just hope and pray for the best.
I win. We got out at 12:45 on Thursday. I don't envy DrivingPigeon. What will happen is that the students will spend all weekend with their parents doing all the last minute stuff for Christmas, going to parties, the mall, etc. Grandma and grandpa will show up, spoil them rotten, give them tons of sugar and let them stay up late. By Monday, when they show up for school (if they show up a tall) they will be so amped and strung out holiday partying that it will make DrivingPigeon's life a living Christmas hell in the event that any actual learning is required of them.
We have school Monday and Tuesday. We will be done Tuesday at 3:30. The teachers voted to go to school those two days last spring. As it is we are already getting out June 22nd. And if we have more snow days (more than likely five or six more), we won't get out until June 30th.
We got out Friday but for years we have had our last day of school on December 23. We figured men or people who are not teachers always made the schedule. Any woman or teacher knows kids are higher than kites those 2 days and we have things to do at home! Feeling less stress this year, more time to do things at home!
Yesterday at 2:15 I put the little darlings on the bus. We have a work day on January 5th and the kids come back January 6th. I have to join the "will miss the kids" group this year. This is the first group that I have had that actually didn't go wild during their Christmas party. They were awesome. They partied (ate and talked) for about 45 minutes or so and then they started cleaning up without being prompted (one of them looked at the clock and realized that the 2:00 bell went off in 15 minutes). They had everything cleaned up, chairs stacked, desks cleaned and everything finished in under 20 minutes (including part of the things I had to do for "winter break shut-down"). So yeah I am going to miss this group.
We left at 11:45 yesterday (due to snow) and don't go back until January 5th. I couldn't believe it when I found out we were getting out almost a full week before Christmas, but I'll take those two extra days!
Get out! You mean you actually have to go in on Christmas eve? Who is your superintendent? Burgermiester Miesterbuger?
Exactly! Our plans for next week: watching the high school choir for an hour, our holiday party, an ice cream/movie party (their vote for reaching the end of our incentive board), decorating gingerbread man cookies, lots of free choice, sledding on the snow hill, etc. I'm not going to start a new reading lesson (each lesson has 5 days worth of activities), and getting them to sit still for 5 minutes last week was driving me crazy. It's going to be a LONG 2 days!!!
Rabbitt, maybe the Grinch is your superintendent? Any kid who has family out of town will be gone by Christmas Eve anyway.
Welll that all depends..... I haven't been in school since Thursday 12/11. Friday the 12th was cancelled due to a horrible ice storm.. and the damage was so bad that we didn't have school all week! So we're not sure if we will even have school on Monday because we just had 12 inches of snow yesterday... and another 6 expected tomorrow... and no guarantee that the whole city has power yet (some of my friends have gone without power since Thursday 12/11 pm!). So if the situation is still as bad as it is... then my vaca started over a week ago! If things are looking up in the city, then I have school Mon and Tue and then break begins. What a week!
Oh how I wish Friday had been the start of our break! We will be out on Tues. However, I have my second formal observation on Monday. Our principal thought she had to do all of the second observations for new teachers by Jan., but told us this week that it now has to be before Jan. I'm just hoping and praying that my kids cooperate ;-)
I have full days on Mon and Tue and then come back on the 5th. My poor hubby has to go back for Friday the 2nd! I can't imagine too many students will be there that day.
My kids are never allowed to miss a regular school day, but I think that even I would make an exception if they were suposed to go on the Friday after a 2 week break.
And it's official... school has been cancelled because of the power outages and now the second snow storm. Sooooo... my vacation started abruptly as of Thursday 12/11 at 2:30pm... and I'm not due back until Jan 5th... craziness!
