Sorry, I'm sure none of us really want to think about it, but I am curious to find out when everyone goes back. We are still in school until this Friday, and I will only get a month off as I report back on 8/1 (I'm starting a new school and they get out a week before my current school, and start a week before). What about the rest of you?
I'm in denial  I haven't even looked at the calendar. We usually go back around the second week of August.
I'm staring at next year's school calendar. We go back August 17th. Students start August 28th. They give us a a full week to set up our virtual classrooms and work out any kinks in our lessons. Unfortunately, the system usually crashes at least once during the first two days of school, so I've learned that nothing is perfect, no matter how well planned.
July 27th for a tech conference July 30th for teachers official 1st day August 1st - open house August 3rd - students 1st day
August 13th. I'm teaching two classes I've never taught before next year. I had planned on getting everything together for those two classes (powerpoints, lessons, videos, non-fiction to go with their fiction stories) so that I'm not scrambling during the year. And I planned on working on my Julius Caesar, Romeo and Juliet and To Kill a Mockingbird units. I've done nothing and the summer is flying by.
Wow! That's really early. We got back on 8/1, but the kids return later. Actually, I am not sure when they start.
I'm starting in a new district and they have a modified year round schedule. I report July 12th and school starts July 23rd.
We will report back during the last week of August for a start right after Labor Day - still two months off!!
Our last day was May 25 and we officially start back on August 8 (Kids come back on August 13). But I have an all day training on August 1, then a day and a half training on August 6 & 7
We finished June 8th (students a week earlier), and go back Aug. 14th - kids start the following week. I'm attending a week long training in July, but that's my choice.
Oh my...Teachers and kids September 4th! I am slways jealous of others who have classroom set up time and inservice. We run a tight Labor Day to just before Memorial Day schedule.
We're finished this Friday. Teachers and students start back on September 4th. We are able to get into the school to set up during the week before school starts, but we have no mandatory days or meetings.
I report on 8/13, kids come back 8/20. Flying by... Even had nightmares about the past year (was rough one) AND this coming year! Dreams started early and it is the first time I've had a nightmare about a previous year.
Somewhere around Aug 20. Can't remember for certain, and don't want to look! Open House is the evening of the 20th.
We always report back near the end of July first of August and the kids come back a week later. Not really worried about this coming year, plan on taking a significant amount of days off.
Teachers: August 28th Students: September 4th I can't believe some of you report back the same day as the students. That's crazy that you aren't given any time for prep!
July 31st- my summer is so short this year! My last school had a september- mid june schedule, and this new school has a august- memorial day one, so I'll get out earlier next year but my summer will only be about 6 weeks total this year. I have four days of new teacher stuff since I'm new to the district, and then regular teacher workdays start the next week. As much as I'm annoyed that I have no time off in August, I do get paid extra for those new teacher days...so I'm happy to sit through meetings if you're going to pay me for it! I'm teaching summer school in my previous district up until July 26th...so really, I had no time totally "off" except for the week between school and summer school earlier in June. I believe kids start August 13th- a full 3 weeks earlier than I'm used to!
So early for many of you! As a new teacher, I have orientation week starting August 27. Returning teachers start Sept 4. Students start Sept. 6.
I just finished with summer school, and I haven't had a break yet. I volunteered to direct our summer bible study at our church. I report back August 1st officially, however, on Friday my principal asked me if I can go back July 23rd to help her organize the year. I think I will be burned out before I even go back.
August 6 is our first official teacher day back, which is a couple of weeks before the students start, so it's very unstructured time, and except for a few meetings in there, we're able to be on campus as much or as little as we want.
I go back for one day August 14, and then from the 20-23, and students start on the 27th. I'm not sure why the days are split up. I'm guessing it was a scheduling problem with a guest speaker. I miss the kids starting on a Wednsday or Thursday. It was nice to have a few days to get in the routine before going all week.
Aug 13th ~15th inservice room prep Aug 16th ~ Open House Night: meet the teacher Aug 20th ~ first day of school
