Our first day back is August 30. Children come a week later.
We are able to get back into the school August 30th to set up for next year. Our schedule is our own--we can spend as much or as little time in the building that week as we wish. We do have a mandated Professional Development Day on September 2nd. The students start the Tuesday after Labour Day.
Convocation is August 20th. Kids come back mid-week the next week. Still getting used to this after growing up not returning to school until after Labor Day.
Teachers start Sept. 1. Kids start Sept. 7 this year.
My first day is August 10. August 23 is the first day of classes.
My first official day is Aug 10th, kids come in the 11th. Obviously that is NOT enough time, so I will go set up my room before that.
New teacher orientation starts August 11th. Teacher Prep days start 16th and kiddos come back 23rd.
I am sooo excited!
Howdyaggie, why do you have to go so long before the kids come? We have PD the 19th and 23rd...kids come the 24th of August. Summer slow down!!
i volunteered to help with new teacher orientation (though a doctor's appointment kept me from attending the meeting where I'll find out exactly what I'm helping with)
So I'll be in on either August 26 or 27th for that.
Full faculty meeting is on Tuesday August 31. Frosh start the next day for their orientation program, and the full school community returns on September 7.
August 30th. Students come back Sept. 7th.
We go back August 3rd. Students August 6th.
I'm a new teacher So the 10-14 is my new teacher training (also my birthday!) Then the following week is more staff development.
Well congrats and happy early b-day!!!!
Aug. 11th for teachers. There was major construction this summer so hopefully we can get back on campus before the 11th. The students return on Aug. 16th.
Teachers report August 16th, students report August 18th. I'll be in and out of my room all summer getting ready.
Aug 2 for staff, and 9 for students.
we go back on aug 13, kids start 18th. We can get into our classrooms on the 2nd, so i will be there most days after that.
I always feel bad for the teachers that have to go in early Aug, but then come May I'm wishing I was one of you I go in Aug 17, kids come in the 25th
First day back Aug 28th? or 29th? Kids start on Sept. 2
I was just going to say that!! Ditto from me!!
Teachers back July 26th (My anniversary) and Kids back the 28th. Not as bad as my first year teaching when kids came back on my anniversary.
(For those of you wondering, we get out in May and have a two week fall and spring break)
Teachers August 3rd and Students August 6th (We get out May 13th next year!)
My district starts back Aug 9th (& out May 25th).
We have to report Aug. 16, students arrive Aug. 18.
Already excited about it, but also thinking the summer went too fast!
We don't go back until August 30. Kids return the day after Labor Day. We got out June 11.
Thanks msmullenjr and Love to Teach!
I go back July 30th. First day is August 4th.
NEW TEACHER REPORTING AUGUST 4TH! (My school is year-round.) Kids come August 9th. :woot: Some residents complained about getting placed in a year-round school, but honestly I'm excited to go. Otherwise I'd have to wait until late aug/early sept.
Teachers go back Aug. 16th and students start on Aug. 23rd, but I'm on an extended contract because I'm the yearbook adviser, so I start on Aug. 2nd. I'm excited b/c I will have that much extra time to get my classroom set up, get some lesson plans out of the way, meet with my yearbook staff, etc.
I go back on August 13 and students come on the 25th. However, due to all our snow days we won't get out until June 10, 11 or later. We had 14 snow days this year. Our district closes at the mention of snow.
We go on Aug. 3. Kids for 2 hours to register on Aug. 4. Work days on Aug 5-6. First full day Aug. 9. It's early, but I'm ready. I already have my room most of the way done.
July 28th first workday. August 4 students come back.
Extended year calender... we go 200 days vs 180!!
Woohoo! Excited and ready this is my first year!
Trainings the 5th and 10th of August then:
Back on the 16th for Inservice, 17th Work Day, 18th Kids (2 hour early release).
We do get a week off in October for the Fair. And we end in May.
I have the WORST schedule this year:
August 30th-Teachers return
August 31st-Open House
September 1st-School starts
Not to mention, August 30th is packed with district and school meetings. So, they expect us to get everything ready in ONE day, so we can have Open House at 4:30.
I just feel like that expectation is disrespectful.
Needless to say, I've already started setting up my classroom.
Wow, what a tight schedule, Pigeon! They told me I could get the keys to my classroom anytime I wanted them, so I'm super excited to at least have the first 3 weeks of August to get prepared.
We used to have two days before kids, but one is now a furlough day so we only have one. We were actually told by a union rep that we should not come in on our own time to set up. Let the parents see that the boards aren't done and things are still in boxes. This way people will see how the budget cuts are affecting everyday life in the classroom.
Our first official workday is August 16, but my P will let me in on the 2nd of August. Students return August 18.
We start on August 16th, have professional development and work days for a week, and then the kids start on August 23!
I've been teaching summer school all summer though, so I feel like I haven't really stopped yet.
Teachers go back on August 4 and students on August 10. How I remember and long for the days when we didn't go back til September!
I go back on July 19th and the kids start back on August 9th.
