I know it varies across the U.S. but I'm already thinking about next year.
I noticed yesterday that my district's website just put a new section up for the next year's position, though there are no teaching positions on there yet. I don't expect any before March since there is a lot of changes in the district next year.
I am in central NJ and the county Dept of Education told me jobs would be advertised here in March-April.
Jobs for next year?! It's gonna be REALLY tough with the way things are. I don't think there will even be the normal number of retirement spots (whose going to retire when you may have lost half your saving this year?)
I haven't seen anything go up aound here yet (edjoin & craigslist)
They will begin putting them up over the next few weeks depending on what they find out when they go to the staffing meeting and as people start signing their intents. We have a very few jobs posted now for next year for specialty positions (counselor, music, etc...).
the schools near me usually start posting around march. What's edjoin?
edjoin is specific to California teaching jobs.
Some districts where I live will post in Feb/March/April. My district usually posts a few in June but most hiring is done in August.
Where do you teach CanukTeacher?

Ours will go up over the summer.
Last year I was able to start applying around late April, but it didn't really pick up until June and July. The earliest interview I had was in early June.
