I was in middle school, high school, and college in the 1980's. that was my music. I love music, too, so I have a fondness for music from that time. One thing that helped me remember old favorites was listening to 80's stations on Internet radio. I did a lot of work on my house over the summer, and I listened to 80's the whole time. I've been wanting to buy the soundtrack for Pretty Woman and I can't find it.
Ima, we must be close to the same age...I was in those same grades in the 80's. I love 80's and 70's music and still listen to it all the time. 80's favorites to work out to: Abracadbra - Steve Miller Band Everybody Wants You - Billy Squire Private Eyes - Hall and Oats Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry/Power of Love - Chicago/Peter Cetera Mickey - Toni Basil Vacation - Go-Go's Shake it Up - Rolling Stones Heartbreaker/Love is a Battlefield - Pat Benatar Crazy for You-Madonna Hold on-Wilson Phillips I'll Be Your Shelter - Taylor Dayne Can't Touch This - MC Hammer Double Vision - Foreigner Old Time Rock and Roll - Bob Seger Kiss - Prince Addicted to Love - Robert Palmer How will I Know - Whitney Houston Stuck with You- Huey Lewis and the News There are tons more..but my list is getting long!
"Pride (in the Name of Love)" is a much better U2 song for running than "With or Without You." If you have The Joshua Tree, consider "In God's Country" or "One Tree Hill" for the playlist.
"Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order. "It's the End of the World as We Know It" by REM "Head On" by The Jesus and Mary Chain (the Pixies cover is great too). "One Step Beyond" by Madness (but only after you watch the scene where the song was used in the show Freaks and Geeks)

I've been looking in stores and on iTunes. I think I might even have some mp3 credits on Amazon. I'll check it out.

All I know is I love the 80s. There are certain songs that bring a huge smile to my face because they remind me of my childhood!
I was born in 82, but I do have some songs that also bring a smile to my face from the 80s. Paula Abdul and Cyndi Lauper are two of my faves.
Sweets wants this to be our first dance song, but I can't stand it! My favorites are "Where the Streets Have No Name", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", and just about anything else off The Joshua Tree by U2. I also love "Time After Time" by Cindi Lauper. I am sure there are more, but these are the songs that immediately come to mind.
Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl) and Love Plus One by Haircut 100 Up All Night by Boomtown Rats Blister In The Sun by Violent Femmes Talk To Ya Later by The Tubes Anything by The Police and Genesis Most of the songs by Flock Of Seagulls and also Missing Persons Do You Come From A Land Down Under by Men At Work
Welcome to the Jungle Hard Habit to Break (I LOVE Chicago!!) Crazy Train Rock You Like a Hurricane And yes, I'm a rockin' 56-year-old grandma!
Anything by Kate Bush holds up over time. She's quirky and timeless, but most of her work is in the 80s. Favorite one-hit wonder? Does anyone remember "Don't Disturb the Groove" by The System? Favorite album? Upstairs at Eric's by Yaz (Yazoo in the UK). Check out "Don't Go" if you don't remember them.
I really am not an 80's music fan... I do have a soft spot for Turn Around (Bright Eyes). My sister always hated that song, it creeped her out. Years later, I discovered it was the number one song when I was born, and so I know why it creeps her out so much
Haha...I love that song! It was used in an annual school production throughout my elementary, middle, and high school years. What was I watching recently that played that song? It was silly...maybe SNL? Ugh, can't remember.
