Just wondering if anyone has comfortable shoe recommendations for teachers! Specifically for elementary...I'm in need of some new ones and looking for some good ones.
This is a great topic! I used to have a pair of crocs that were wedges, they did NOT look like typical crocs... Trust me. I loved, loved these shoes... Until my dog got ahold of them. Apparently he loved them too. They were super comfy though.
Clarks. I have a brown pair and a black pair, and wear one or the other almost every day (once sandal weather ends ).
I wear a lot of wedge heels. Mostly Gianni Bini and Steve Madden. Some others as well. They are all super comfortable and even when on my feet all day, my feet never hurt at the end!
I'm lucky that most shoes don't bother me. I can wear a lot of different styles and brands. That being said, my mom (who is ultra stylish) just bought several pairs of SoftSpots that are SUPER cute and she just raves about their comfort.
i was disappointed with Clark's selection this yer. I went with my stand by Rockports. I bought the exact same style as 2 years ago. Yep those shoes lasted 2 years. very comfy. I am hoping these will last as long. I wear them at least once a week. Since I teach in a rural community it is acceptable to wear sneakers and jeans... so some days i wear my Reebok.
Another for Clarks! So comfy and many cute styles. And I love the Bass Sunjun sandals - I just wish they were in dress code
My favorite dress shoes are Sofft and Soft Spots. Mine are all heels. I have foot problems, and my ankles don't bend very well. Completely flat shoes or shoes with "squishy" heels make my feet hurt. Both Sofft and Soft Spots also come in wide widths. I have super wide, short feet. For casual shoes, I have Privo, Sketchers, Born, and Clarks. I'm not a fan of the Clarks, though. Even the wide isn't quite wide enough, so they hurt my feet by the end of the day. For sandals, I have Soft Spots, Life Stride, and Birkenstock.
Sketchers are wonderful! In addition, I wear a lot of wedges. I have a high arch, so most flats are uncomfortable for me (except sketchers!), plus, my growth (upward) was stunted a bit, and I like the extra height! LOL
I had these in black. They didn't make my feet hurt so I got a new pair for next year. They look a lot cuter in person. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002GKAWQY...e=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B002GKAWQY Do you think a teacher needs a pair of black and a pair of brown shoes?
I really like I Love Comfort shoes from Sears. They're rubber soled, and cushioned. I have their pumps in a number of colors, and could stand in them for ages.
http://www.dansko.com/Womens/Footwear/Styles/Shoes/ I wear my Danskos almost every day with every outfit. It is an ongoing joke with my friends at school because when it gets too hot for long pants, i am always sad to put the Danskos away. These are my favorite pair http://www.dansko.com/Womens/Footwear/Collections/Stapled Clog/Professional/Black Patent/
I love Franco Sarto's flats pictured on this link. I have them in black and brown. I desperately need to invest in a new black pair though! I also have Dansko that I wear a lot like the ones pictured above.
I LOVE Shoes for Crews brand! They are made for people in labor-intensive jobs, like food service and factory workers, and so they are SUPER comfy for standing all day. Plus, they are meant to be slip-resistant, which is great when it's wet outside. The styles are somewhat limited, but you can normally find something that you like! Plus, they have sales pretty often, so check back for those.
I LOVE LOVE Josef Seibel shoes. They are pricey (for me), but I have bought every pair I put on. I can go all day in them and my feet do not hurt. I have bought them at Dillards. Not only are they comfy, they have lots of cute styles.
Thanks for the suggestions!!! I guess I'm going to need to actually get a job before I can afford GOOD shoes.
Skittleroo, I used to do that and it led to some serious foot trouble as I got older. Now I have to have a shoe on with some solid support. Today, I bought a pair of Sofft shoes. I'm going to the Clark outlet next week!
I too walk around the classroom without my shoes on (only when the kids aren't there). It hurts when a cot falls on a toe! I need some new shoes.
I won't hesitate to spend good $ on shoes because it's worth having a good quality pair & if you can get it on sale, all the better. I like: Born Hush Puppies Merrell Teva Most brands they sell at J Stephens (known for comfort) BTW, a friend of mine who used to be a nurse said that crocs aren't as good for you as they want you to believe. She said Danskos are good.
Adding to my list from before: Gianni Bini Steve Madden Alex Marie Antonio Melani I have wedges from all of them that are very comfortable. They're pretty much my stand bys. I also have some extremely low heels that are comfortable to teach in. I'll wear my "real" heels if I'm not going to be on my feet as much as usual for whatever reason.
Anne Klein i-flex and Liz Claiborne Liz-flex; Born; and believe it or not, some Hush Puppies and Life Stride (I swear they're cute!).
Used to wear Crocs 24x7. Due to foot problem last year, I wore Easy Spirit Anti-Gravity Get-up-and-go sneakers for the last few months. Felt dorky wearing them with dress pants , but they are Super Comfy! Plan on getting black get up and go for this year (will be less obvious than the white ones I wore last year) and if my foot has improved, will also wear Clarks. Alas, Crocs are no longer allowed per my physical therapist. Not enough support. However, I will look into the Croc wedge mentioned in a pp. Maybe that will work?
