I'm trying to find a flight out of Tampa and since several fly out, I could use some help picking one! They all seem to have layovers and switching planes so that is going to be one long day since you have to get to the airport super early these days. :)

I want a roomie (sp?) economic airline seat. I like Midwest Airline's 2 seat section so they do exist

Jet Blue. I've always had wonderful experiences flying them. Plus I like the satellite TV at every seat. :)

It's marketed as a discount airline, I think, but it can get a little pricy.

We only have one airline! Alaska Airlines. They are pretty good. But like American Airlines and most others, you are kinda crammed on like sardines. One tip: get there early to check in and ask for an exit row seat. Much roomier! You can also ask if first class is full. If it is not, sometimes if you have a nice person they will comp you an upgrade. If you ask nicely and - seriously - if you are dressed nicely.

Southwest is pretty good, but you have to be sure to tell them to check your luggage all the way through or you will have to leave security, get your bags, go check in again, each leg of the trip.

I have been on 2 planes since my son arrived 10 years ago: a flight to and one from Orlando. So this isn't exactly my area of expertise.

But Jetblue DOES have those individual TVs. And I like the prices.

We usually fly Southwest within the state and American when we're heading east, although recently we've switched to JetBlue for that when we can. They fly from Long Beach (a little farther drive for us than LA, but not too bad) nonstop to Boston. We rent a car there and drive down to the Hartford area to get to our family there. Takes a bit longer, but the price is usually much better and we appreciate the in-flight entertainment on those long hauls.

Be aware that most airlines are now charging extra for exit row seats, or any seat with a bit more legroom!

I'm extremely fond of Southwest. My tall husband usually has no trouble getting us an exit row seat so I don't have to watch him eat his kneecaps. Also, the entire crew has a great sense of humor that makes flying a much more enjoyable experience. Heck, one time the head steward SANG to us!

We always use Continental. My friend is a pilot for Jet Blue, one of these days I will take a trip using that airline.

Whenever I travel, I always check out this website and find the airline with the safest record. I flew on JAL, although I would've preferred ANA when I flew to Japan, and I flew on Hawaiian Airline when I flew to Hawaii. I chose these airlines based on what I read on this website. I am thoroughly terrified about flying, but I LOVE to travel, so I do a TON of research when choosing an airline.

ETA: JetBlue seems to have a good saftey record so far, but it's too new for me to feel comfortable with them. But, good so far! :)

ETA: I also do not see anything wrong in spending more on tickets for a good airline. I have spent hundreds of dollars extra just to fly on a particular airline. The travel agent for AAA was so confused, but she doesn't understand how terrified I am about flying.

I've only flown on Delta, American, and Southwest so I am far from being well traveled, but I liked American the best.

I felt like cattle going to the auction on Southwest, but it was super cheap.

Midwest is my favorite -- the staff has always been very nice to me, and their cookies are amazing!

I also like Jet Blue because of their in flight entertainment, and the TVs in the back of the seat in front of you.

I  AirTran. My flights are always on time and they have never messed anything up. Plus, their planes seem newer and cleaner than most. (And XM radio- I suppose Sirius now).
Continental lost my bags the first (and only) time I flew with them. American always seems to use teeny tiny planes which freak me out! I had to ride on a teeny plane (1 seat on one side of the aisle, 2 on the other and MAYBE 15 rows) from Chicago to Charlotte. I was freaking out! Northwest always seems late and their planes are old.
I have never flown Jet Blue as they do not fly to Michigan. I flew Spirit once and that was fine, too. But, I definitely try to book Air Tran as much as possible!!
