I'm thinking about re-vamping my schedule, and was wondering what others schedules might look like.

    Here's my schedule:

    9:00- 9:15 Drop off
    9:15 - 9:25 Circle
    9:25- 10:15 Centers
    10:15 - 10:30 Snack
    10:30 - 11:15 Outside play
11:15 to 11:30 - Group activity (art, game, etc)
(after the children are finished they can go play in centers until clean up time)
    11:45 - clean up
    12:00 Pick up

I think this looks alright on paper, but things always seem to get messed up in the morning which impacts centers time so I worry they aren't getting enough free play. Parents often come in late which delays circle, or if the children are having a good time doing something I will sometimes hold off on circle since I hate to interrupt quality play. Also, the kids are always asking to eat snack super early, I swear their parents don't feed them in the morning, so I end up doing snack earlier and cutting into play time. They will sometimes take too long for snack too which cuts into outdoor time, but it's still a decent solid block of time. Centers seems to get too broken up. Anyway, I just wanted to see what some of you were doing so I can get an idea of how I should be better organizing our day. Any advice you could give would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

    10:00 snack

8:30 arrival, coats/backpacks, table work (drawing, tabel toys, puzzles, whatever I've set out)
    8:45 music and movement (songs/dancing)
9:00 stations (small group work) - typically 3 stations that rotate, sometimes it doesn't last the whole 30 min.
9:30 circle time (Calendar, weather, theme/concept, story)
9:45 (if not earlier) group activity
10:00 (or whenever activity is done) snack
10:15 (whenever snack is done) free choice centers
10: 45ish- clean up and pack up (depending how messy the room is)
    11:00 dismissal

    Afternoon schedule is similar.

I have library one day right before dismissal, which cuts into play time a little. We also ave gym 2 days at different times... one day it's at the end, so free choice is cut a little, the other day I use it as my group activity, so our circle time is super short.

I keep the ORDER of the schedule pretty faithfully, but the times are fluid.

What do you do in your journal time? I use it as an assessment tool.

I still haven't figured out a schedule, as we haven't finished registration yet, and I think it will make a difference in my day. (Our first day was 9/7) I had only three students my first day, so even though I did everything planned, we ended up with an insane amount of time that I hadn't planned for-I was expecting fifteen students, and only found out when I got in that 2/3 were moved up to first grade, and and of the other 1/3, two never showed!

My schedule is as followed. Its been working really good. I am starting the sign in this week though, so that might push things back.

8:15-8:30; arrival, sign in, book time
    8:30-8:55; Circle time
    8:55-9:55; learning centers
    9:55-10:05; clean-up
    10:05-10:15: bathroom break
    10:15-10:25- snack time/ book time
    10;30-10:45- outside time
10-50-11:00- prepare to go home, end of the day circle time
    11:00- depart.

I have some kids who take FOREVER to eat snack...and its mostly because they are messing around. I give them a few extra minutes and then I say snack is finished and they need to throw it away. I feel bad doing this, but its not fair to the other kids who finished and are waiting to go outside and play. Once I make them throw it away once, they usually finish next time.

I have 18 4s for 2 1/2 hours in a very academic program. My schedule is fairly flexible but usually looks like this:

    9-9:15 arrival/journals
    9:15-9:30 circle
9:30-9:45 whole group activity (story, ABC lesson, etc)
    9:45-10 snack
    10-10:15 whole group activity
10:15-11 centers (usually 2 teacher led academics and one independent play, or one teacher led academic, one independent academic and one independent play)
    11-11:15 story or music
    11:15-11:30 outside play
    11:30 dismissal

I NEVER feel like there is enough time in my day, so as a result my times tend to be rigid so that I can fit everything in! I am a notorious "bell ringer." I give them 15 minutes to eat snack and then I ring the bell and we move on. I used to feel bad about it, but I can't spend half the day waiting for a child to finish some goldfish crackers!
