Glad for a bit of a rainbow through the clouds, Alice.
Lots of fun yesterday running with (past) my students during our school Terry Fox Run. Heard lots of "Go, MrsC" as I jogged the route with the kids.
One of my little boys drew me a rainbow heart.
I just Googled this strategy. Love it! We're going to do this to review sight words next week!
I love AtoZ!
One of my very challenging students, both academically & behaviorally is, hopefully, going to be tested for both learning disabilities and ADHD. I'm surprised by the decision, but happy. He's a kid that you can only take in small doses, his behavior is that challenging. I feel that his behavior gets in the way of his learning and that he doesn't have an LD.
Just hop Mom shows up to sign the paperwork next week!
Alice so glad you have such good people to support one another!!!
Hmmm....went to dentist & got a flu shot!!!
We just started using a new evaluation system this year. We were warned repeatedly that we should be thrilled if we receive accomplished in one or two areas. I had accomplished in FIVE areas!!!
Today, my little boy came in with a cd for me. It was one of his dad´s cds (his dad is a famous rock star and I think my little student thinks I don´t know, lol), and it turned out it was signed with a message saying this is the first time his son has ever asked for a signed cd. I thought it was so darn cute that my little student wanted to get me a signed cd from his dad.
Tami ~that's nice!
When learning that I would be a grandmother, I wanted a unique name that didn't make me sound old. My term of endearment is "DeeDee." My granddaughter is now three years old and lives in New Orleans. Yesterday after she and I talked, I told her to give her mom a phone. She started screaming, "Mommy, DeeDee" and ran back to phone, "Bye, DeeDee." So cute and I love her to pieces.
Many hugs to you, Alice.
Oh, WOW! That is GREAT news!
I'm glad you can use it! I love it! It keeps my active little ones engaged.
That so made my day today!

I had a student bring me back a sand dollar that she found on her spring break!!! I still have it!!!
Pumpkin ice cream is back at Coldstone!!! Mmmmm.
Here's something AWESOME that happened to me today. I've been waiting for this one table at West Elm to go on sale for literally months. Finally, it is 15% off. Then, the math specialist in my school came up to me and gave me a coupon for "friends and family" for 20% off starting next Tuesday! I went into the store to admire the table while I wait for Tuesday and found out that the table, chairs, etc. will ring up at the 15% off sales price and then I get 20% off of that! What?! I said. Yes, it's true. $500 discount!

Am I the only one dying to know the rock star???
Today I had a meeting with my old administrators at my old school, with my new administration at the college. They spent a fair amount of time agreeing on just how awesome I am. Kinda made my day!
I know it's still early, but I hope no one minds me sharing my excitement here since it's too early to tell everyone else...
I had my first ultrasound today! The military usually only does one for the whole pregnancy, but I got an extra one because I was on clomid and the chance of multiples. There's just one baby and it measured exactly how far along I thought I was (8 weeks 2 days) and the heart rate was 172. I felt so relieved to hear it! My next appointment is in exactly 4 weeks and I will almost be out of the first trimester by then.
Awesome news, FFH!!

The best thing that happened to me today was the class I taught! I got called last night to teach 4th grade today. The instructions for the day's lessons were vague at best. I'd guess the teacher was in a rush to get something thrown together. The kids, however, were amazing. One little guy that has resource help in the room part of the day was also pretty good. The kids transitioned smoothly, no real goofing around or trying to get away with anything, helped each other when I couldn't. It was a great day over all.
Congrats, Far! That's so exciting!
Yeah, Far!! Best news I have heard today!
That is wonderful Far! I love this thread, it is so uplifting to reading all the good things that have happened.
I don't have anything to add as the day is just starting but I just wanted to say congrats!
I pulled 2 seniors boys aside and thanked them for their good manners. Yesterday, in a packed church, they got up and gave up thier seats to their female classmates. No one asked them to do so; they did it on their own.
I wanted them to know that someone noticed.
Best thing (so far) today: people actually showed up to my afternoon seminars on identity theft! I arrange with the NE Attorney General's office to have someone come out, and we have not had a lot of interest. I was feeling very nervous, but we've actually had quite a crowd. Tomorrow he will present to 4 different high schools, over 200 students.
Best thing of today: I had an ear infection a few weeks ago, but my ear never cleared.
Today, it popped out finally! I can hear out of my left ear again! Painful when it happened, but I wanted to do cartwheels out of celebration.

It's been a stressful few weeks and today was no exception. However, the end was very sweet. I had a really wonderful night spending time at home with my SO. Never felt closer.
I spoke to my daughter on the phone and, even as a fiercely independent almost 20-year old, she still needs her mom!
I went from my job earlier and it was great!
