Last night we had dinner with my family. We had steak, baked potato and a wedge salad. Yummy Tonight maybe a turkey burger
Aliceacc- I'm in Bergen County, NJ- we can't shop for clothes on Sundays!! (I think we're the only county in the county - at least in NJ- that has 'blue laws')...Could get to the Palisades Mall (have you seen it!!) in Rockland county NY in 15 minutes but can't stand the crowds/parking/NY taxes on clothing!! There is a great '5 Guys' burger place near the mall though that's fun. Their fries are so good, I get a grilled cheese veggie sandwich and never miss the burger at all!!
We're having lentil soup and quiche. Soup and stew season are about over so I thought I'd make one last batch!
Yesterday, I had chili cheese dogs w/ onions & frozen yogurt. Today it will be spinach & turkey patties.
I need to get up to cook, but I am not feeling well. Maybe the spaghetti will be cooked before girls get home from their dad
Sorry you're not feeling well. (I hope this coming week's your spring break to relax!) Forget about cooking & order something!
no Spring Break this week for us, we still have three weeks b4 SB, I am considering not going in to work tomorrow.
Green Pea Soup tonight: Serves 4 3 tablespoons butter 4 scallions, thinly sliced 3 boxes (10 ounces each) frozen peas 1 can (14.5 ounces) reduced-sodium chicken broth Coarse salt and ground pepper 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Directions In a large saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon butter over medium. Add scallions, and cook, stirring, until softened, 1 to 2 minutes. Add peas, broth, and 3 cups water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until peas are tender, about 5 minutes; set aside. Working in batches, puree soup in a blender until smooth (filling blender only halfway to prevent spattering). If necessary, adjust consistency with a little bit of water. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. I didn't put all the water in at first- just the broth plus 1 cup water...use additional water after pureeing to adjust consistency.
I went to HS in the 70's when NY still had the blue laws. As a Senior, I qualified for Speech and Debate Nationals; that year they were held in Detroit. Well, I didn't do well in the competition. (I had bronchitis and laryngitis-- not really a GOOD thing for a Speech competition. Besides, I was in over my head.) As a result, I got eliminated fairly early. But the highlight of my weekend was hitting the local mall with some friends who had also been eliminated-- on a SUNDAY!! I bought a yellow rain slicker just because I could!!
We went to the coast today so it was Mo's for clam chowder (hubby) and chili (me)! http://www.moschowder.com
We had clam chowder and/or sloppy joes for dinner. MissJennifer, we don't care for Mo's clam chowder, tastes like canned milk to me.
I don't like it either - but I don't eat any seafood. My hubby loves it! i always get chili or chicken strips when we go to Mo's!
I'll bring home something tonight for dinner on my way from school. Maybe the chicken fajita pita from Jack in the Box. New England Clam Chowder & mushroom soups are my faves. I don't like the Manhattan style clam chowder.
I just saw this. I can always find the pumpkin in the baking aisle. I usually get a huge can and then just make a double batch. Pumpkin and squash are my favorite foods ever. I could eat butternut squash every night and never get tired of it. In fact, my final project in a college ceramics class was a huge bowl in the shape of a squash, in which to serve pureed squash. I'm glad to hear someone else loves this recipe!
We got our tax return today and my husband ran to drop it off at the bank. On the way home, he's stopping at KFC, since I forgot to take anything out of the freezer for dinner!
Their Fish Tacos are to die for - I love the sauce. I'm glad they posted it on their website because I make it all the time - being 8 hours from the coast prevents me from eating there!
Jem - it was the perfect pre-Thanksgiving meal- easy, tasty and 'seasonal'...I don't eat sausage (I'm a veggie) so cooked that separately for those who are carniverous. Ditto for me on the butternut. Acorn is good too. Have you tried spaghetti squash?
Tonight we had the Margaretta Chicken from the Crock Pot web site. The flavors were very strong, and the sauce was too strong to eat.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/r...ipe/index.html Im going to try that this week!! I like pumpkin -- but is it really overpowering pumpkiny in taste ??( lol real technical terms here :lol
Last week I went to the Taste of Home Cooking School - and she made a mexican lasagna that looked amazing! So, I'm going to make that and try a new recipe tonight! I'm excited - it looked so delicious!
I am thinking turkey buger with sweet potatoes or a pork chop. Tomorrow night is baked chicken, broccoli and au gratin potatoes
I just put some chicken in so tonight will be chicken with gravy and cornbread stuffing. I will probably cook some broccoli with it. My daughter said she needed some veggies yesterday because my hubby has cooked the past couple nights and he does not do veggies.
Since I didn't actually make dinner last night (best laid plans and all) we are having baked pasta tonight. It was supposed to be last night.
We had roast beef (cooked in the crock pot), roasted potatoes, corn and peas, and gravy. I will bake peanut butter cookies later.
I ate too much yesterday! My BF & I went to an all-you-can-eat place called Hometown Buffet. I had mac & cheese, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, fried chicken, seafood pasta salad, corn, bread pudding, & a tad bit more! I have to change how I eat. 98% of the time, I'll skip breakfast & lunch, & only eat dinner early when I get home from work.
Last night I made roasted sweet potatoes, and honey mustard chicken. My boyfriend loved it. Tonight pork chops, applesauce and left over broccoli
Ohhh I love Hometown Buffet. They closed the one near me!!!!! I have a terrible cold and do not feel like eating much. I don't want to cook tonight. Maybe I'll get my hubby some Chinese take out and I'll just get soup and tea :|
