Fall is in the air, so it was time for homemade vegetable-beef soup.
I made homemade chicken soup. A cold virus has hit the house.
Just had homemade lasagne.
Tomorrow we have our US friends over again. They have had 2 and a half weeks of British hospitality and so tomorrow we are planning a French night.
Pastis with savoury cakes as an aperitif. French onion soup with freshly baked bread. Snails, Cock au vin, French cheeses and to follow Creme Brulee (The French always have the sweet after the cheese unlike in the UK where we usually finish with the cheese). I have got in some French beer and have pulled a few bottles of French wine from the store cupboard. May even run to a bottle of real Champagne.
Then they return to stay with other friends before having a few days in London and they flying home. Don't know why they go to London. Apart from the Queen no-one British lives there!
Blazer... Hubby would love that kind of dinner.
I have a cousin who lives in France. Not sure exact location....she has lived in & travelled a lot. She speaks 5 languages fluently.
So when will you be ready for more US visitors???

We have quite a few American friends which makes our house a sort of transatlantic flop house!
I needed something stick to your ribs with this terrible weather...brown sugar meatloaf, mashed potatoes , baked butternut squash, homemade applesauce and apple crisp.
Pizza, veggies and dip, peanut butter ice cream bars. Too tired to cook anything.
With this nasty weather happening all weekend long I have some comfort foods all lined up...
A Deluxe Pizza with everything on it (pretty much), a huge salad with ranch dressing AND home made fudge brownies!!!
I will have some hot cocoa with whipped cream later when i'm under my blankie!!
Chicken soup again with some crackers, smoked cheese & sausage sticks.
Banana crumb cake for dessert! May make a choc chip banana bundt cake tomorrow.
Sub...make some crockpot hot chocolate tomorrow then you can dip all day to get a cup!
Janlee could you share your brown sugar meatloaf recipe... Sounds interesting.
Went o Paul Martin's American Grill & had a delicious bistro angus burger w/ black pepper aioli, avocado, Tilamook cheddar, & grilled mushrooms w/ a gourmet campanelle pasta mac & cheese. Yum!
The recipe is from Allrecipes.com. It is called Brown Sugar Meatloaf. There are several recipes. I use the one by tangastar. It really hit the spot on the dreary, rainy night. Enjoy.
BF and I went to Red Robin. The closest one is about 40 minutes away from home, but we were craving it. Too tired to cook on a Friday night!
Thanks...I read some reviews...any tips you used?

Follow recipe exactly. I remove the meat from their pan when done. There is fat from the meat on top of the sauce. I skim it off then pour the sauce over the meat. I process my crackers in a mini food processor. If I don't have saltines I use panko.
