I have been the guest of one of my college roommates these past 3 days. She has a summer home on the Connecticut River. Another college friend joined us and we had lobster rolls last night watching the sun go down. What a way to end the summer.

So I had gone to the fair & I had a wood-fired sausage & mushroom pizza. The crust was paper-thin, but still good! Also had butter pecan ice cream.

We have a couple of friends from Chicago staying with us at the moment. Last evening we took them to our local Indian restaurant for dinner. They had never tried Indian before. They loved it! They tried Pupadoms with onion salad with Mint and yoghurt sauce, Pakora, Onion Bhaji, Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Balti, Prawn Balti and another dish which I can't spell but was recommended by the waiter and was smashing. All helped down with a few pints of Cobra Indian beer. (And our pints are 20oz not 16)!

Tonight Mrs B is doing the cooking and she has prepared a Mediterranean Cottage Pie. As I type it is 7.30am here and we are waiting for our friends to wake up (The jet lag means it is still 2.30am in their heads) and once they surface I am planning a Full English Breakfast (Sausages, Bacon, Eggs, Black Pudding, Baked beans, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Fried bread followed by toast and marmalade and endless cups of tea) which is basically a heart attack on a plate! That should fill us up nicely for our trip out to Stratford upon Avon which is about 20 miles from our house. (It is the law that all American tourists have to go to Stratford)! We might also find time to take in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral.

You are all welcome, we love Americans.

It is midnight here. the female friend has gone to bed after too much vodka (Russian but she made an exception). Her husband is currently sitting with me still drinking British ale. Today we took in Stratford and did the Shakespeare thing (Boring)! Tomorrow (Actually today now) we are heading out to Malvern (about an hour away) and having a pub lunch and having a look round at the old stuff.

When else would you eat baked beans?

We only have them because of lend lease. Apparently when we stood alone against the Nazi horde Roosevelt sent us Baked beans in return for us giving you Bermuda. (there might have been a few destroyers and fighter aircraft in the deal as well).:p

Took our American friends out for lunch on Sunday to a pub we know. Explaining the menu was a hoot! Yorkshire pudding was the first item that needed explaining. Bangers and Mash required a description. Then they noticed that 'Spotted Dick' was on the menu. After much hilarity our friend then noticed that he could have Faggots for his dinner! He passed on those but had a proper roast dinner (with Yorkshire pudding)!

The Yorkshire pudding and bangers and mash my family has enjoyed on this side of the pond. I've seen spotted dick on a can at the grocery. Have no idea what faggots are, but I do know it's a sewing term.

My dinner was scallops in a wine sauce over pasta with pink sauce. My dh made,of course. He rocks.

We rarely cook that "fancy" stuff czacza, lol. We had meatball stew, garden beans and strawberry shortcake. We're staying on our son's houseboat taking care of our grandson while dad's away on business. Yes, they live on their boat. It's very different!

Are bangers some type of sausage? We used to have a British type restaurant around here and I loved going there! They had a Dickens themed dinner around Christmas time. So much fun!

Not sure how hungry I'll be for dinner--one of our teachers has a friend who caters Thai food and we ordered in from her today. Sweet chili orange chicken, rice, spring rolls and salad = yummy! Think dinner will be a salad for me and leftovers for my husband!

Ms. i...It doesn't sound like you have to scrape dinners together. Your posts of your dinners are always so varied. Your frig and pantry must be stocked with lots of items to make such interesting dinners.

Having honey mustard baked chicken, roasted potatoes, broccoli in garlic sauce and homemade applesauce.
